The View keeps courting the wrong kind of controversy.
Co-hosts on this show just can’t help themselves.
And Joy Behar is going to get The View sued over this sick lie about Elon Musk.
Joy Behar invites Elon Musk to file a defamation suit
The New York Post reported that shortly after the election, ABC executives told the co-hosts of The View to soften their language when attacking Donald Trump and his allies.
“One source close to the show’s co-hosts — Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, Sara Haines, Alyssa Farah Griffin and Ana Navarro — said the fear and loathing is partly because Brian Teta, executive producer of the daytime gab-fest, spoke to staffers about ‘going easy’ on Trump-related commentary in the days leading up to the 47th president taking the oath of office,” the Post exclusively reported.
ABC bigwigs were likely worried about a mid-November broadcast of The View where the co-hosts read four on-air “legal notices” to offer corrections to comments made about Matt Gaetz, Pete Hegseth, George Santos, and Pam Bondi to avoid defamation lawsuits.
That message clearly didn’t stick.
Joy Behar’s unhinged hatred for Elon Musk walked ABC so close to the line of a defamation lawsuit that Behar jokingly invited Musk to file one.
Behar’s problems began when she tried to attack Musk’s work with the Department of Government Efficiency to slash $2 trillion in spending as un-American since Musk was an immigrant from South Africa.
“The guy was not born in this country, who was born under apartheid in South Africa,” Behar stated.
But Musk wasn’t just any immigrant from South Africa, according to Behar.
Behar smeared Musk as a white supremacist supporter of the apartheid government.
“So, [he] has that mentality going on. He was pro-apartheid, as I understand it,” Behar continued.
And just to make sure she added even more ammo for a defamation suit, Behar admitted she had no idea if what she just said was true or not.
Behar must have gotten word from producers that she strayed into dangerous territory because she engaged in an extremely poor attempt at walking back her comments.
“Now I’m getting some flack because I said that Musk was pro-apartheid. I don’t really know for sure if he was,” Behar added.
Behar’s only “evidence” that Musk supported apartheid was he was born in South Africa when the pro-apartheid government was still in power.
“He grew up at that time when apartheid was in full bloom, before the great Nelson Mandela fixed that. He was around at that time, but maybe he was, maybe he wasn’t — he might have been a young guy, too,” Behar stated.
Behar then begged Musk not to sue.
“So, don’t be suing me, okay Elon?” Behar concluded. “They’re allowed to say any lie they want but we have to be really strict.”
But Behar may have walked the show into a legal minefield.
Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk posted the clip on social media and wondered if it was time for Musk to show the left-wing media there would be accountability for their lies.
Musk replied that he just might do that.
“Maybe it is time to sue,” Musk wrote on X.
