Carrie Underwood is one of the biggest stars in all of county music.
Underwood crossed over into the mainstream of American pop culture.
And now Carrie Underwood just gave Donald Trump the one answer that left him jumping for joy.
Carrie Underwood became a star when she won the fourth season of American Idol.
From there, Underwood took Nashville by storm becoming one of the best-selling county music artists of all time with hits like “Before He Cheats,” “Jesus Take the Wheel,” “All-American Girl,” “Just a Dream,” and “Cowboy Casanova.”
Underwood has sold 20,000,000 albums and 40,000,000 singles.
Since 2013, Underwood has performed the “Waiting all day for Sunday Night” theme song for NBC’s Sunday Night Football, the number one rated show in America.
And now Underwood – a practicing Evangelical Christian – will perform “America the Beautiful” at Donald Trump’s inauguration.
In her statement announcing her performance, Underwood stated the inauguration was a time for Americans to unite behind the new President and she wanted to do her part by singing.
“I love our country and am honored to have been asked to sing at the Inauguration and to be a small part of this historic event,” Underwood’s statement read. “I am humbled to answer the call at a time when we must all come together in the spirit of unity and looking to the future.”
This is yet another example of how life is different for Donald Trump after winning re-election in a landslide.
In 2016, Trump’s team found it hard to nail down high profile acts.
Lee Greenwood performed.
And so did Toby Keith.
Keith was outspoken politically, and Greenwood sang Doanld Trump’s now iconic walkup music, “Proud to be an American.”
But other acts were the Rockettes and Jackie Evancho, the runner up on America’s Got Talent.
The then 16-year-old Evancho later claimed her team pressured her to sing at the inauguration ceremony, but that she had a “bad gut feeling” about doing so due to Donald Trump’s opposition to the transgender agenda.
Evancho then demanded Trump meet with her and her transgender sister, a meeting which never took place.
Carrie Underwood is another stratosphere from these performers.
Underwood has never made her politics known.
For country music stars that want to crossover into the mainstream – as Underwood has – coming out as a Trump supporter could limit your ceiling.
Underwood never mentioned Trump by name in her statement announcing she would play at Trump’s inauguration.
Just playing the ceremony was all the statement she needed to make.
The sea change in American culture after Trump routed Kamala Harris was a sight to behold.
Soccer players, UFC champions, and NFL stars all broke out Trump’s now famous dance moves to celebrate goals, big wins, as well as sacks and touchdowns.
No one has to self-censor themselves for being a Trump supporter anymore.
That’s reflected in the star power at his second inauguration compared to his first.
