Fox News experienced a huge upheaval in its programming lineup.
The network has a big hole to fill.
And a Fox News star blindsided viewers with this shocking resignation announcement.
Neil Cavuto quits Fox news
Neil Cavuto has been with Fox News since day one.
Cavuto’s show Your World with Neil Cavuto premiered the day Fox News debuted and ran until December 19, 2024.
Mediaite broke the news that December 19 was Cavuto’s last day on the air since his contract expired at the end of the month.
“Thursday will be the anchor’s last day on the air as his contract is up at the end of the month,” Mediaite reported.
Fox News wanted to keep Cavuto, but Cavuto didn’t accept the terms of the deal Fox News offered him, the outlet reported.
“Cavuto is one of the few remaining on-air talents still with the network after joining at its inception in the late 1990s. A beloved presence at Fox, his exit is not the consequence of any bad blood, but rather an increasingly common industry reality: Cavuto was offered a new contract, which he declined to accept his new deal. Fox wanted him to stay on board, but a source explained that he ultimately decided to leave,” Mediaite reported.
The cable industry is in turmoil as cord cutting leads to fewer customers and fewer subscriber fees.
Network executives are trying to keep their business viable at a time of dwindling audiences and revenues.
Fox News tried to give Cavuto a classy send off.
“Neil Cavuto’s illustrious career has been a master class in journalism, and we’re extremely proud of his incredible 28-year run with FOX News Media,” a statement from Fox News to Mediaite read.
“His programs have defined business news and set the standard for the entire industry. We wish him a heartfelt farewell and all the best on his next chapter,” the statement continued.
But Fox News may not have believed Cavuto was worth as much to them with Cavuto’s hard turn into a Never Trumper.
When Joe Biden and Kamala Harris abandoned the people of North Carolina after Hurricane Helene ravaged North Carolina, Cavuto accused Trump of spreading misinformation.
“We’ve also got a lot of misinformation, don’t we? We get people who say in North Carolina that if you’re a Republican, you’re not gonna get help, if you’re a Democrat, you’ll get help. I would imagine that does a huge disservice to people working together and scares the bejesus out of others when they believe it,” Cavuto declared.
Cavuto also defended the controversial COVID vaccine at a time when public health tyrants were pushing forced vaccination.
“This is not about left or right. This is not about who’s conservative or liberal. Last time I checked, everyone regardless of their political persuasion is coming down with this,” Cavuto stated.
“Take the political speaking points and toss them for now, I’m begging you. Toss them and think of what’s good, not only for yourself but for those around you,” Cavuto added.
Neil Cavuto increasingly alienated Trump supporters.
And while Fox News may have wanted to keep him on the air, they may not have wanted to extend his stay at the same price.
