Pete Hegseth is fighting for his nomination as Secretary of Defense.
Hegseth is facing the combined wrath of the Swamp and RINOs looking to sabotage Donald Trump’s agenda.
And Pete Hegseth took Megyn Kelly by surprise with this bombshell request.
Pete Hegseth faces an anonymous smear campaign
Ever since Donald Trump nominated Pete Hegseth to serve as the Secretary of Defense, the media’s run a smear campaign against Hegseth using anonymous sources.
NBC News dropped the latest hit piece where 10 former anonymous Fox News colleagues claimed Hegseth showed up to work hungover and reeking of alcohol for his gig hosting Fox & Friends Weekend.
Hegseth’s co-hosts went on the record to deny the anonymous allegations.
The media also tried to Brett Kavanaugh Hegseth using a false rape claim, which police and the District Attorney investigated and found to be baseless.
Hegseth’s public campaign to fight for his nomination took him to Megyn Kelly’s podcast, where he sat for an hour-long interview and answered every question under the sun.
Kelly said if Hegseth pressed forward with his nomination, he would face a grilling from Democrats on the Senate Armed Services Committee, as well as the corrupt FBI digging through his past as part of a background check.
Hegseth’s response stunned Kelly.
“I can’t wait for an FBI investigation. Can’t wait. How soon can they start?” Hegseth replied.
Kelly couldn’t believe Hegseth would trust the FBI – the agency that tried to frame Donald Trump as a Russian asset and that targeted parents as domestic terrorists for protesting mask mandates at school board meetings – with the fate of his confirmation.
“Really?” Kelly replied.
Hegseth explained he welcomed an FBI investigation because it would force anyone smearing him in the press to tell their story under the prospect of criminal penalties for lying.
Hegseth stated that this investigation would clear him.
“Yes, because that gives me an opportunity for them to do a real investigation. What the media is doing right now is a witch hunt. It’s trial by false accusations and lies. The FBI is going to look through what’s there, and if they do their job properly—which I fully expect they will—they’ll talk to everybody and get the full story and a full understanding. That’s a report I welcome. So yeah, we’re not hiding from that one bit,” Hegseth added.
Ultimately it’s Trump’s decision
Hegseth’s fate ultimately rests in Donald Trump’s hands.
If Trump decides not to move ahead with Hegseth and go with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, that is Trump’s call as the leader of the party who 77,000,000 Americans voted for.
“I mean, that’s the president’s call. What I know in this entire process is there’s only one man in America who got 76 million votes. One man that America voted for, for change in the Senate and in Washington, D.C,” Hegseth added.
But Hegseth told Kelly that Trump was still in his corner as Hegseth told the President-elect he would promise to fight for his nomination.
“He asked me; I shook his hand, and I told him I’d fight like hell for him. If there’s a moment where he calls me and says, ‘Pete, attaboy, but you’re not the guy,’ I will salute and say, ‘Whatever assignment you need from me next, I’ll do it.’ It’s his call. He’s shown great confidence in me, and I respect his perspective on it no matter which way it goes,” Hegseth concluded.
