Viewers couldn’t believe what they were seeing.
It looked like the end for The View.
And Whoopi Goldberg shut down The View after one big fight about Donald Trump.
Whoopi Goldberg preaches tolerance for Donald Trump
Ever since Donald Trump first won the Presidency in 2016, leftists could count on The View as their comfort food for their Trump Derangement Syndrome.
There was no political show on television that featured more lunatic hot takes about Donald Trump than The View.
But after the election, the audience noticed a change.
Fake conservative co-host and Never-Trumper Alyssa Farah Griffin actually argued for the conservative position and defended school choice programs.
That was nothing compared to what those who tuned in saw when Whoopi Goldberg threw a flag on Never-Trump RINO Ana Navarro-Cárdenas after Navarro-Cárdenas launched into a familiar tirade about Trump turning into a dictator on day one.
“I’m not going to wait and see. I mean, this guy has told us he’s a retribution. He’s going to be a dictator,” Navarro-Cárdenas ranted.
Instead of accepting the premise that Trump was Hitler, Goldberg told Navarro-Cárdenas there was no use getting all worked up over Trump until they saw what he did in office.
“There’s nothing to be done until you know what you’re fighting. Pissing in the wind doesn’t help—you just get a wet face,” Goldberg stated.
Navarro-Cárdenas replied that she was still going to cling to the Big Lie that Trump was about to impose fascism on America.
“What I’m saying is I have no false expectations that at 78, he’s going to, all of a sudden, turn into another human being. I spent weeks telling people that he was apocalyptic. I’m not going to change,” Navarro-Cárdenas exclaimed.
Goldberg shot back that Navarro-Cárdenas discredited herself by engaging in apocalyptic rhetoric about Trump without first giving him a chance to govern.
“You lose credibility in many different ways. If you don’t know what you’re talking about and you accuse him of something, then they’re going to blow it back. That’s why I say we need to wait and see,” Goldberg concluded.
Goldberg may be seeing the writing on the wall
Donald Trump winning the popular vote as the American people saw the Democrat agenda completely discredited changed everything.
Trump is now enjoying a traditional Presidential honeymoon as a CBS poll showed Americans approved of his transition by an 18-point margin.
Goldberg could also be recognizing the moment they are in and trying to moderate on Trump since there is no mood in the public for unyielding resistance.
But Goldberg’s more measured response on Trump could also be confirmation of a prediction Bill O’Reilly made on NewsNation.
O’Reilly told host Chris Cuomo that Trump’s win served as a death knell for the leftist media and that ABC could put The View on the chopping block as a result.
“And you know what’s next? The View. ABC News are gonna have to cut ties with The View, and you saw that today or yesterday when Sunny Hostin had to read a legal statement in the middle of a segment. The lawyers got in her, in Whoopi Goldberg’s ear, and said, ‘We’re bringing a statement in on the teleprompter.’ She reads it,” O’Reilly declared.
Goldberg could understand the fate of her show is up in the air and wants to show network bosses she can play ball and adjust to new circumstances.
