Geraldo Rivera and Dan Bongino are rivals dating back to their days on Fox News.
Bongino and Rivera’s feud just resurfaced.
And Geraldo Rivera made this jaw-dropping confession about Don Bongino.
Donald Trump considering Dan Bongino to run the Secret Service
If Donald Trump needs to fill one position with someone he can trust above all others, it is the Director of the Secret Service.
The Secret Service’s incompetence this summer allowed a gunman to shoot Trump in the head at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.
Trump only survived by sheer luck.
Two months later, the Secret Service allowed a second gunman to camp out for hours at a sniper’s nest he set up at one of Trump’s golf courses.
Dan Bongino is a former Secret Service agent who served on Barack Obama’s detail.
Bongino has since become a popular podcaster.
And Rivera told CNN’s Brianna Keilar that despite their history, he supports Bongino’s nomination.
“You two sparred a lot on Fox and man am I being understated. How would you feel about him being Secret Service director?” Keilar asked, expecting Rivera to slam Bongino.
Rivera began a windup to his answer that led Keilar and CNN’s left-wing viewers to think he might not go easy on Bongino.
“I can’t imagine anyone who I feel more fiercely combative with than Dan Bongino. If he were to walk into a bar and I was having a beer, we’d probably square off. We disagree on everything. I think he has his own set of facts. I think he’s a provocateur,” Rivera stated.
But Rivera said he would never question Bongino’s patriotism or commitment to the Secret Service.
“I go back to what I said about Maj. Pete. I have no issue at all with his honesty, his credibility, his character, his patriotism, his love of the Secret Service. I think all those things are positive for Bongino,” Rivera added.
Rivera went so far as to say if he ever required protection, that he would want Bongino providing security.
“With Bongino, you know I would, let me put it this way, If I was a target and Bongino was on the job, I feel that Bongino would keep me safe,” Rivera concluded. “He would do the job.”
Rivera and Bongino created a viral moment with an explosive confrontation on Sean Hannity’s show back in 2021.
In the segment, Bongino and Hannity slammed Rivera for what they claimed was repeating Hamas propaganda.
Rivera began shouting that the two were attacking him personally.
“Stop attacking me, punk! Address the issue! Do you have the guts to address the issue? This is not about me!” Rivera raged.
Rivera then flew off the handle and threw a crumpled-up piece of paper at the camera.
“I’m sick of you, Bongino! I’m sick of you! You’re a punk!”
That wasn’t the end.
Rivera got so mad that he ended up turning his back to the camera in protest at what he perceived as his mistreatment.
