Hillary Clinton is worried that Kamala Harris doesn’t possess the campaign bandwidth or political skills to navigate the political attacks that Republicans are sure to fire her way in the final weeks of the campaign.
Instead, Hillary Clinton played assignment editor for the rest of the media and ordered journalists to deem any “October surprise” that comes Kamala Harris’ way a conspiracy theory cooked up in the fever swamps of right wing social media and Fox News.
“But I anticipate there will be a full-court press in October. The digital airwaves will be filled. And why does that matter? Because the press that is pro-Trump anyway, oftentimes stories are put on digitally that then are picked up by, let’s say, at Fox and others,” Clinton told Firing Line host Margaret Hoover.
Clinton claimed conservative conspiracy theories would gain so much traction online that the press would be forced to cover them and that these stories would actually serve as a conveyor belt to transmit conservative’s attacks on Kamala Harris to the broader electorate.
“And then those stories are stories, so the mainstream press reports on them. And so that story then takes on a life of its own. There will be concerted efforts to distort and pervert Kamala Harris, who she is, what she stands for, what she’s done,” Clinton added.
Clinton told Hoover she wasn’t sure what the attacks would be, but that she was sure they would gain 100 percent saturation in what Hillary Clinton deemed “pro-Trump media.”
“It starts online often on the dark web. It migrates. It’s picked up by the pro-Trump media. It’s then reported on by everybody else, which makes sure it has about 100% coverage, and people believe it. So I don’t know what it’s going to be, but it will be something and we’ll have to work very, very hard to make sure that it is exposed as the lie that it is,” Clinton concluded.
