Kansas City Chiefs star tight end Travis Kelce crossed over into the mainstream of pop culture.
Thanks to his relationship with Taylor Swift, Kelce is running in circles few athletes have.
And Travis Kelce suffered this huge embarrassment before meeting the Royal Family.
Travis Kelce does damage control before meeting the Royals
Travis and Jason Kelce’s New Heights podcast is the number two ranked football podcast and places fourth for sports according to Chartable.
Fans love the jocular banter between the two brothers as they discuss sports and life in general.
The recently retired Jason Kelce is in his “I have no effs left to give” mode and went in on the idea of celebrating royalty.
The topic came up in the context of a discussion of a Father’s Day tradition in Thailand where children bow at the feet of kings and their dads.
Jason Kelce was no fan of this spectacle.
“So, I’m out on honoring kings,” Jason Kelce declared.
Jason Kelce has the classic American attitude of thinking we fought a war to never bow before kings.
“Listen, we’re Americans. We don’t do royalty. So, f*** kings,” Jason Kelce concluded.
Travis Kelce’s mind immediately began to race as he knew he was off to London for the weekend where he would meet members of the British Royal Family backstage at the Taylor Swift concert.
He tried to soften the blow as much as possible.
“Not ‘f*** kings,’” Travis stated. “But just not into it.”
At the Taylor Swift concert, Travis Kelce met Prince William and his children Prince George and Prince Charlotte.

Prince William in the news for other reasons
In addition to meeting Taylor Swift, Prince William made news as his wife Kate Middleton made her first public appearance since announcing her cancer diagnosis in March.
“I am making good progress, but as anyone going through chemotherapy will know, there are good days and bad days. On those bad days you feel weak, tired and you have to give in to your body resting. But on the good days, when you feel stronger, you want to make the most of feeling well,” Middleton said in her first public comments in her fight with cancer.
“On the days I feel well enough, it is a joy to engage with school life, spend personal time on the things that give me energy and positivity, as well as starting to do a little work from home,” Middleton continued.
Middleton added that she’s “not out of the woods yet” and that her treatment will last a “few more months.”
Obviously, Princess Kate wasn’t well enough to attend the Taylor Swift concert with her husband and children, but her showing up for the Trooping the Colour ceremony was a positive sign.
