House Speaker Mike Johnson won the Speaker’s gavel on a promise to fight for conservative values.
But it turned out Johnson was all talk and no action.

Johnson surrenders to Biden and the Deep State on illegal spying
Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) expires on April 19.
House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) faced a choice.
The Speaker could stand with conservatives and end Joe Biden’s illegal warrantless wiretapping program or allow Joe Biden’s weaponized government to spy on Donald Trump and his supporters without first obtaining a warrant.
Johnson’s facing mounting criticism for choosing to side with the Washington, D.C. Swamp.
And his decision could lead to conservatives supporting Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene’s (R-GA) motion to vacate the chair and oust Johnson as speaker.
“It’s delicate right now. The place is about to combust,” a GOP source on Capitol Hill relayed to the Daily Caller.
Johnson plans to put the Reforming Intelligence and Securing America Act (RISAA) on the floor.
This bill, which critics insist is misnamed, makes no actual changes to the FISA Act and doesn’t include Trump-supported provisions like banning the Deep State from purchasing Americans’ communications from third-party vendors and to require a warrant to spy on American citizens.
Conservatives speak out
Conservatives in Congress were furious with Johnson for caving in on this fight.
“I don’t think [RISAA goes far enough] I think that these are a lot of papered over reforms that FBI was doing internally, or were claiming that they’re doing internally,” Congressman Andy Biggs (R-AZ) said in a statement to the Daily Caller.
Senator Mike Lee (R-UT) released a statement calling on House Republicans to reject any bill that lets Joe Biden unconstitutionally spy on American citizens.
“RISAA doesn’t go nearly far enough in protecting Americans from illegal spying by their own government. It is a sham reform, and House Republicans should not vote for any FISA reauthorization that lacks a warrant requirement. Speaker Johnson and the GOP majority have a real opportunity to end this madness, and they should take it,” Lee’s statement read.
“Making 56 ineffective tweaks to a fundamentally broken law is not reforming it. Absent significant amendment, RISAA will do nothing to prevent the government’s repeated abuses of Section 702 to spy on Americans,” Lee added.
FISA became a major issue for Republicans when the FBI abused the FISA Court by using the Christopher Steele dossier to obtain a warrant to spy on former Trump campaign aide Carter Page.
Journalist Matt Taibbi told the Daily Caller that Johnson and House Republicans’ rubber stamping a reauthorization of Section 702 means they were never really serious about holding the Deep State to account for illegally spying on Donald Trump’s campaign over alleged Russia collusion.
“If Republicans don’t vote for extensive FISA reform, it will mean they were never serious about getting to the bottom of the abuses in the Trump/Russia investigation. It would send a devastating message to Republican voters in particular,” Taibbi said in an interview with the Daily Caller.
