Jasmine Crockett just used an official Congressional Record entry to honor Chris Brown despite his felony domestic violence conviction.
She did it live on an Arlington stadium stage in front of thousands of fans this week.
Now an official US government document defines exactly what Jasmine Crockett considers Black joy in America.
Crockett Crashes Chris Brown's Stage to Make It Official
Crockett walked onto the AT&T Stadium stage in Arlington on September 13.
Chris Brown and Usher were headlining Night 3 of their joint R&B tour stop in the Dallas area.
She grabbed the microphone next to state Rep. Venton Jones and producer Roccstar.
She told the crowd she "couldn't miss this night," according to TMZ.
Crockett then pulled out a Congressional Record entry titled "Recognizing the Artistry of Chris Brown and Usher Raymond," honoring both men's "extraordinary accomplishments," according to Gateway Pundit.
"We are experiencing Black joy to the highest level," Crockett told the arena. "And I wanted to make sure we document that at the congressional level."
Then came the line that should embarrass her.
Crockett joked about "a few scammers up in D.C." before telling the hometown crowd they had "a real one" standing right there in Dallas, TMZ reported.
Chris Brown hugged her onstage and thanked the Dallas crowd for their support.
Felony Assault Record Gets Buried Under Applause
Chris Brown pleaded guilty in 2009 to felony assault after beating Rihanna before the Grammys.
He served five years' probation, 1,400 hours of community service, and mandated domestic violence counseling.
Karrueche Tran won a five-year restraining order against Brown in 2017 after testifying about his abuse and threats.
Crockett skipped all of that history on her way to the microphone.
The Daily Wire headline said it plainly: "Jasmine Crockett Honors Domestic Abuser In Official Congressional Record."
Crockett's office framed the tribute as recognition of artistic impact, not personal conduct.
That answer conveniently ignores who Crockett is.
This is the same congresswoman whose campaign reportedly had armed guards remove an Atlantic reporter from her Lubbock rally in February, according to Fox News.
She's also the congresswoman who refused to apologize on live television after calling Governor Greg Abbott "Governor Hot Wheels."
A pattern is forming, and it has nothing to do with policy.
The Congressional Record Was Built for This Kind of Stunt
Crockett is not the first House Democrat to turn a taxpayer-funded government document into a fan letter.
Rep. Hakeem Jeffries entered a tribute to "Hip Hop at 50" in 2023.
He praised the genre's cultural influence without a word about the industry's well-documented problems with violence toward women.
Jeffries leads House Democrats.
If the top Democrat in the chamber sets that example, a backbencher like Crockett has every reason to copy it in front of a stadium crowd.
The Congressional Record runs on an honor system.
Members submit statements for the permanent record, and nobody checks the honoree's rap sheet before it prints.
That's the mechanism Crockett exploited on that Dallas stage.
Any member of Congress can walk onto any stage and turn applause into an official act of Congress.
Nobody in Washington stops them.
Crockett didn't misuse the system.
She used it exactly as designed, and that's the real story here.
This goes beyond one concert.
It's a preview of how House Democrats plan to court younger, urban voters heading into the next election cycle: hand out taxpayer-funded validation to celebrities first, and worry about consequences never.
Usher got the same honor Brown did that night, and almost nobody noticed.
Crockett knew exactly what she was doing when she stood next to Chris Brown instead of quietly mailing a proclamation to his agent.
Controversy is the product now, and a Congressional Record entry is just the packaging.
Crockett has spent this year building a national profile through cable hits and viral floor speeches, and a stadium full of cameras is worth more to that project than a quiet mention in the back pages of a government publication.
Democrats keep telling voters they're the party of accountability, right up until accountability lands on one of their own rising stars.
Watch for more members racing onto more stages before the next vote, because Crockett just proved there's no price to pay for it.
