Zohran Mamdani's socialist wing just swept New York's Democratic primaries and terrified the party's establishment.
Now CNN's own Van Jones is turning on the socialists he once seemed to cheer.
Jones unloaded a metaphor so filthy even Democrats can't stop talking about it.
The Socialist Wave Van Jones Couldn't Ignore
New York Democrats got a preview of their future last month.
Mamdani-backed challenger Darializa Avila Chevalier knocked off five-term Rep. Adriano Espaillat.
Brad Lander beat sitting Rep. Dan Goldman on a platform that includes abolishing ICE.
In Colorado, a DSA-aligned challenger ended the career of 15-term Rep. Diana DeGette.
These aren't fringe candidates anymore.
They openly support ending all deportations, even for violent criminals.
They want prisons abolished, police defunded, and America's borders erased.
Rep. Henry Cuellar, a Democrat, accused the socialists of trying to hijack his party from the inside.
Democratic leadership stayed silent.
One of Mamdani's endorsed winners called America an "effing disgrace" on social media before her primary victory.
Voters in a safe blue district promoted her to Congress anyway.
NRCC spokesman Mike Marinella said Democratic leadership had effectively handed the party over to its socialist wing that night.
Every House Democrat in a safe or competitive seat now has to answer to that wing whether they like it or not.
State legislatures are seeing the same uprising, with DSA-aligned challengers stacking primary ballots in district after district.
The one Democrat everyone expected to stay quiet finally didn't.
Van Jones Finally Said What Democrats Were Afraid To
The longtime CNN commentator and self-described progressive Democrat unloaded on the socialist wing Saturday.
He accused DSA activists of pushing support for Hamas, the abolition of prisons, and open borders under the banner of progressivism.
Jones said those ideas have nothing to do with universal healthcare or the causes he claims as his own.
Then he reached for a metaphor nobody expected from a CNN panelist.
Jones told his own party to "stop pooping in the punch bowl" and stop pretending the mess was something else entirely.
The image was crude and it was deliberate.
Jones wanted Democrats to see exactly what he thinks the socialist takeover actually looks like.
He drew a hard line between what he called real progressive priorities and what he labeled a regressive fringe hijacking his party's brand.

Even Jones, a man who spent years defending the Democratic Party's leftward drift, could not defend this one.
That is the story Democratic leadership does not want you to notice.
The 2026 Math Democrats Can't Escape
This fight has been building for years and Van Jones just confirmed it out loud.
A former Democratic megadonor already warned earlier this year that the party had fractured into two incompatible camps chasing the same voters.
He said the hardline faction was pulling ahead of the pragmatists.
New York just proved him right in the most public way possible, with seven incumbents losing primary night in a single state.
Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries built careers managing a coalition that no longer listens to them.
Now the man CNN pays to explain the Democratic Party to America is telling his own side it's rotting from the inside.
Democrats spent a decade calling every conservative warning about socialism a right-wing scare tactic.
Van Jones just proved those warnings right, and he did it from inside his own party.
The 2026 midterms will decide whether Schumer and Jeffries still run a Democratic Party or whether Mamdani's socialists own it outright.
Watch what happens next in the districts where DSA already won.
Every one of those winners now sits a heartbeat away from committee votes on border security, policing, and Israel.
If Democrats retake the House with a narrow majority, those votes belong to the socialists whether Schumer wants it that way or not.
A handful of hardline votes could decide whether any Democratic agenda moves at all.
Van Jones knows this math better than anyone in that building, and it is exactly why he broke first.
He did not do it to help conservatives.
He did it because he can see his own party's brand collapsing in real time and he would rather torch the socialists than go down with them.
Republicans do not need to invent a boogeyman here.
Van Jones just handed them the closing argument for 2026 in his own words, on CNN's own platform, aimed at his own party.
