Lee Zeldin Went Through Biden’s Green Energy Billions and Someone Is About to Pay for It

Jun 3, 2026

A Stacey Abrams linked group reported $100 in revenue the year before Biden handed it $2 billion.

Now the man cleaning up the mess Biden created with nearly $20 billion in green energy grants like that to organizations Democrats controlled has just sent a message.

What Lee Zeldin found inside those grants is something Washington Democrats are praying you never read about.

Biden Official Handed $5 Billion to His Own Former Employer

The scam wasn't complicated.

Biden's EPA handed $20 billion from the Inflation Reduction Act's Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund to eight politically connected nonprofit groups – and those groups routed the money to Democratic cronies across the Obama and Biden networks.

Zeldin has now canceled or clawed back roughly $29 billion in EPA grants tied to the scheme.

"As you look through all of these pass-through entities, you're seeing so many connections to former Obama and Biden administration officials and Democratic donors, people who were former Cabinet members, other high-ranking administration officials," Zeldin said on the John Solomon Reports podcast Monday.

"The whole thing just feels criminal," he added.

The EPA has referred transactions to both its inspector general and the Justice Department for possible prosecution.

The most brazen example: Jahi Wise, the Biden EPA's director of the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund, personally oversaw a $5 billion grant to his own former employer.

The man controlling $5 billion – steered it straight to the organization that used to sign his paychecks.

Career EPA staffers raised red flags during the application review process, warning that billions were being rushed to groups with no track record managing federal money and with unmistakable political connections.

They were ignored.

Stacey Abrams Got $2 Billion. The Group Had $100 in Revenue the Year Before.

The most outrageous single transaction involves Stacey Abrams.

Power Forward Communities – a nonprofit Abrams helped establish and for which she played what the Washington Free Beacon described as a "pivotal role" – received $2 billion in taxpayer money in 2024 to finance so-called "residential decarbonization."

The group reported just $100 in annual revenue the year before Biden dropped $2 billion into its account.

It was so financially inexperienced that the grant agreement required the organization to complete "How to Develop a Budget" training within 90 days of receiving the money.

Abrams has since appeared on MSNBC to defend the grant.

She insists she never personally received a dime – which may be technically true – but the nonprofit she helped create walked away with more money than most Fortune 500 companies earn in a year.

Zeldin isn't buying it. "It's about self-dealing," he said flatly.

This Was the Plan from the Start

Democrats didn't stumble into this.

They built the architecture for it.

When Biden, Pelosi, and Schumer controlled every lever of federal power in 2022, they wrote the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund directly into the Inflation Reduction Act – $20 billion earmarked for nonprofits with minimal oversight and no competitive bidding requirements.

The IRA passed on party-line votes without a single Republican supporting it.

Democrats then spent two years loading those nonprofits with loyalists and former administration officials before shoveling out the cash in the final weeks before Trump's inauguration.

A senior EPA staffer, caught on hidden camera in a Project Veritas sting, described the frantic last-minute grant distribution as "throwing gold bars off the Titanic."

They knew exactly what they were doing.

A federal judge initially blocked Zeldin from freezing the funds.

A three-judge appeals panel overruled her.

The DOJ and FBI are now formally investigating.

No one in the Democratic Party is demanding answers.

What the media describes as an "unlawful attempt to cancel grants" is actually the only attempt anyone in Washington has made to hold Democrats accountable for a $20 billion slush fund – built with their people, drained on the way out the door, and disguised as environmental policy.

Zeldin threw the gold bars back on the ship.

Now he's sending names to the Justice Department.
