Hollywood's woke mob strikes anyone who steps out of line.
One actress learned this lesson the hard way.
And Kristin Chenoweth revealed one ugly truth about what woke Hollywood did to her after her Charlie Kirk tribute.
Broadway legend admits Kirk backlash nearly destroyed her
Kristin Chenoweth broke her silence about the vicious attacks she endured for expressing basic human decency after Charlie Kirk's assassination.
The Wicked star told The Hollywood Reporter the backlash over her tribute "nearly broke" her.¹
"It was tough on me, but I'm not going to answer any questions about it because I dealt with it," Chenoweth explained. "It nearly broke me, and that's all I'm going to say."²
Her crime? Writing that she was "So. Upset" about Kirk's death in a comment on the Turning Point USA founder's final Instagram post.
Chenoweth added that she didn't always agree with Kirk but "appreciated some perspectives" and expressed sympathy for his wife Erika and their two young children.³
That simple act of compassion triggered a coordinated assault from leftist activists who accused the Broadway legend of betraying the LGBTQ+ community.
The attacks grew so intense that Chenoweth addressed them on NY1 ten days after Kirk's September 10 assassination at Utah Valley University.
"Your post, Kristin, was met with mixed reaction," host Frank DiLella said.
"Mixed. You're being kind," Chenoweth replied, fighting back tears.⁴
She explained that she "came to understand that my comment hurt some folks and that hurt me so badly."
But here's what the woke mob doesn't want you to see.
The left's deranged response to a murdered conservative
Chenoweth's experience exposes the totalitarian mindset gripping Hollywood and the broader left.
They don't just demand you agree with their politics.
They require you to celebrate when their political opponents are murdered.
Any expression of sympathy – even for a 31-year-old husband and father gunned down while speaking to college students – will be met with career-threatening attacks.
Kirk co-founded Turning Point USA to mobilize conservative students on college campuses and became one of the most influential voices for young conservatives in America.
His assassination shocked the nation and prompted an outpouring of tributes from both sides of the political aisle.
President Donald Trump ordered flags flown at half-staff until September 14 and hosted a memorial edition of The Charlie Kirk Show at the White House.⁵
Vice President JD Vance said, "If it weren't for Charlie Kirk, I would not be Vice President of the United States."⁶
Major sports leagues held moments of silence before games.
Even some Democrats condemned the violence.
But for Hollywood's woke brigade, expressing the most basic human compassion became an unforgivable sin.
The backlash against Chenoweth reveals how far left the entertainment industry has drifted from mainstream American values.
Most Americans across the political spectrum condemned Kirk's assassination.
Hollywood leftists demanded celebration of it.
Jamie Lee Curtis cowered before the mob
The viciousness of these attacks worked exactly as intended.
While Chenoweth stood by her comments despite the pain they caused her, actress Jamie Lee Curtis completely capitulated to the woke mob.
Curtis initially cried on Marc Maron's podcast while discussing Kirk's faith, saying she hoped he "felt connected to his faith" when he died despite disagreeing with his politics.⁷
She called his ideas "abhorrent" but acknowledged he was "a father and a husband and a man of faith."
The response from leftist activists was swift and brutal.
Curtis received what she described as "threatening" messages for daring to express even limited sympathy for a murder victim.⁸
So Curtis backtracked completely in an interview with Variety.
"An excerpt of it mistranslated what I was saying as I wished him well – like I was talking about him in a very positive way, which I wasn't," Curtis claimed. "I was simply talking about his faith in God."⁹
Translation: Curtis wanted everyone to know she definitely did not wish a murdered father of two well and was absolutely not speaking positively about him in any way.
The cowardice was breathtaking.
For a woman who built her image on being tough and independent, Curtis folded like a cheap suit the moment her Hollywood career faced any threat.
She couldn't even stand behind acknowledging that Kirk was a devoted husband and father without scrambling to clarify she totally didn't mean it as praise.
The totalitarian left shows its true face
This coordinated campaign against Chenoweth and Curtis reveals something dark about the modern left.
They've moved beyond simply opposing conservative ideas.
They now demand absolute conformity even in how people respond to political violence and murder.
Express sympathy for a murdered conservative? Prepare for your career and reputation to be destroyed.
Acknowledge a slain activist was a devoted father? You must publicly recant or face consequences.
This is the totalitarian mindset that has overtaken the Democrat Party and its allies in Hollywood.
They don't want debate or disagreement.
They demand total submission to their worldview and will destroy anyone who refuses to comply.
Chenoweth deserves credit for refusing to completely buckle despite admitting the attacks "nearly broke" her.
She told The Hollywood Reporter she wouldn't answer more questions about the controversy but made clear she wouldn't apologize for having "a human moment of reflection" about a murdered father of two.¹⁰
The left's response to Kirk's assassination – celebrating it, attacking anyone who expressed sympathy, demanding public recantations – shows they've become exactly what they claim to oppose.
Authoritarian.
Intolerant.
Willing to destroy anyone who steps out of line.
Americans need to see this movement for what it really is.
