Whoopi Goldberg lies about egg prices not dropping under Trump
Democrats and their media allies have used the price of eggs as an angle of attack against President Donald Trump.
Egg prices began to soar after former President Joe Biden unleashed the worst inflation in four decades.
More than 100 million egg-laying hens were slaughtered by the Biden administration last year after an outbreak of bird flu.
That sent the price of eggs soaring, and the Left immediately tried to pin this on Trump after he took office.
When Trump was on his blitz of executive actions at the start of his Presidency, some Democrats would whine about the price of eggs.
Democrats have shifted their attacks after the price of eggs dropped.
But that didn’t stop Whoopi Goldberg from trying to attack Trump over them during a segment on ABC’s The View.
“[Trump] did promise to lower the price of groceries, I have not seen an egg fall one cent since this man got in,” Goldberg claimed.
Co-host Sunny Hostin chimed in to falsely claim that the price of eggs was still rising.
Democrats saw Biden’s Presidency collapse in part from the outrage over high prices.
They’re trying to use this same strategy to deal political damage to Trump.
Goldberg and Hostin were lying through their teeth about egg prices.
Egg prices are going down thanks to Donald Trump
The price of eggs has dropped by 44% since the start of the year, according to Trade Economics.
A dozen eggs cost an average of $3.23, which is down from $6.41 on January 21 – Trump’s first full day as President.
The price of a dozen eggs was $1.46 when Biden took office in January 2021.
Bureau of Labor Statistics data shows that the price was $4.14 in December 2024, the last full month he was in office.
Trump was handed a ticking time bomb by the Biden administration when he took office.
A record 20 million egg-laying hens were killed because of bird flu during the final quarter of last year.
That meant that Trump took office with egg prices surging.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt pointed this out in a press briefing in January, but the media chose to ignore it.
“There’s a lot of reporting out there that’s putting the onus on this White House for the increased cost of eggs,” Leavitt said at the time. “I’d like to point out to each and every one of you that in 2024, when Joe Biden was in the Oval Office — or upstairs in the residence sleeping, I’m not so sure — egg prices increased 65 percent in this country.”
She noted that the Biden administration’s killing of more than 100 million chickens created an egg shortage.
Democrats are grasping at straws as they search for ways to attack Donald Trump.
