America spent 20 years in Iraq and Afghanistan – handed gold-star families folded flags, spent trillions in treasure, and watched generals on CNN tell us we were almost there.
Now, after Trump obliterated Iran’s nuclear program last June, the Persian Gulf has once again erupted in chaos.
The same people who sold America on Iraq demanded Trump do it again – but JD Vance just gave them four words they won’t forget.
JD Vance on Iran Nuclear Talks: No Endless War This Time
Flying back to Washington on Air Force Two Thursday, Vance didn’t hedge and he didn’t qualify.
“There is no chance” – those were the four words.
“The idea that we’re going to be in a Middle Eastern war for years with no end in sight – there is no chance that will happen,” Vance told reporters.
This isn’t a politician reading talking points.
JD Vance is a Marine Corps veteran who deployed to Iraq, stood on the Senate floor, and said out loud that he had been “lied to” about why America went there in the first place.
He watched that war drag on for two decades and cost this country thousands of lives and trillions of dollars.
Don’t Let Iran Turn Into Next Iraq or Afghanistan
When he says it won’t happen again, he’s not saying it as a spin doctor – he’s saying it as someone who paid a personal price for the last time Washington made that mistake.
Vance described himself Thursday as a “skeptic of foreign military interventions” and said Trump operates from that same America First instinct. Yet, here we are again, with America’s political leaders launching another “regime change” war that’s already gotten American boys and girls killed.
“I think we all prefer the diplomatic option,” Vance said less than 24 hours before operation Epic Fury kicked off.
What’s not clear is why? Operation Midnight Hammer – the June 2025 strikes on Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan – hit Iran’s nuclear facilities with bunker-busting bombs and Tomahawk missiles that “obliterated” Iran’s nuclear program.
Trump Knows The Costs But He’s Under Enormous Pressure From America Lasters
The neocons and their media allies want another 20-year occupation.
Before Epic Fury ignited the Middle East yet again, those same forces were claiming it was necessary because Iran was rebuilding the nuclear facilities. Â
The Foundation for Defense of Democracies – a 501(c)3 think tank funded according to public records analysis by neocon war hawks like casino magnates the Adelsones and hedge fund manager Paul Singer – published Satellite imagery in January they claimed showed Iran reconstructing a containment vessel at a site previously used for nuclear weapons experiments.
But after Epic Fury launched, President Trump told the world this was about freeing Iran – i.e. another regime change war in the Middle East – the very thing he and JD Vance campaigned so forcefully against in 2024 because, as they rightfully declared at the time, it is not in America’s national interest.
Vance insisted Thursday – evidently knowing what was about to happen – that he doesn’t think another Iraq is automatic.
“Just because one president screwed up a military conflict doesn’t mean we can never engage in military conflict again,” Vance said. “We’ve got to be careful about it, but I think the president is being careful.”
That’s the key word: careful. Unfortunately, all carefulness may have already been cremated.Â
