Donald Trump’s pick for Secretary of Labor, former US Representative Lori Chavez-DeRemer, is a terrible choice.
Not just because she poses a threat to worker freedom, but because she also threatens the Pro-Life movement.
That’s why Trump’s pick for Labor Secretary must be stopped, and these Senators need to hear from YOU right away!
The confirmation hearing for Chavez-DeRemer takes place this morning, so it’s urgent to call your Senators and voice your opposition as soon as possible.
Although she served as a Republican, her stance goes against everything that real conservatives stand for.
Here’s why Chavez-DeRemer is an abysmal choice for this important position, and why she must be stopped at all costs:
- She’s one of just three House Republicans who have supported the PRO Act, a proposal put forth by the Biden administration that has nearly unanimous support from Democrats. If made law, the PRO Act would overturn the right-to-work laws that are currently on the books in 26 states and would effectively prohibit freelancers, gig workers, and contractors from earning a living, causing detrimental economic distress nationwide.
- Chavez-DeRemer is fully backed by Teamsters president Sean O’Brien, making her just another union shill in the back pockets of the Teamsters.
- She wants to make government unions universal, imposing these unions on all 50 states, which would strengthen and allow union intimidation throughout the US government on both the state and federal level.
- Chavez-DeRemer only represented her district in northwestern Oregon for one term before losing her re-election bid and was Mayor of a town of 25,000 people for eight years prior to her one-term stint. She has no background whatsoever in developing or understanding worker-related policy or in any labor-related issues, rendering her unfit and unqualified to serve in this position.
- Students for Life Action (SFL) opposes her nomination due to her stance on abortion. Chavez-DeRemer once worked for Planned Parenthood and got a “C” on the Pro-Life Generation Report Card. The Department of Labor impacts workplace practices, including making mandates that dictate abortion must be accommodated by employers. The department also influences The Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), both of which can be utilized to force abortion policies in the workplace.
Several members of the US Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee (HELP), including Tommy Tuberville (R-AL), Bill Cassidy (R-LA), and Markwayne Mullin (R-OK), are key votes on De-Remer’s confirmation. If you’re against the committee confirming this pick, it’s urgent that you contact their offices today to voice your opposition as soon as possible.
