Tom Homan was thrown for a loop when a blue state lawmaker admitted this damning fact

Mar 28, 2025

Three Key Takeaways:

  • Massachusetts’ sanctuary policies, including restrictions on ICE cooperation and the Right to Shelter law, have led to rising public safety concerns, with violent illegal aliens being released back onto the streets.
  • State Senator Ryan Fattman criticized the state’s handling of illegal immigration, pointing to the $3 billion spent on sheltering illegal aliens and the high number of criminal incidents at these taxpayer-funded facilities.
  • Fattman and other lawmakers are calling for legal reforms, including overturning a 2017 ruling that limits ICE cooperation, as the state struggles with escalating crime and the financial burden of its immigration policies.

Tom Homan is battling with blue states over their sanctuary policies.

He never thought he would see this day.

And Tom Homan was thrown for a loop when a blue state lawmaker admitted this damning fact.

Massachusetts lawmaker sounds the alarm on state’s sanctuary policies

Border Czar Tom Homan has been in a war of words with Boston Mayor Michelle Wu (D) over her city’s sanctuary law.

Massachusetts may be thousands of miles from the southern border, but the state is dealing with illegal alien crime.

Violent illegal aliens are being released back onto the streets because law enforcement can’t cooperate with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Massachusetts State Senator Ryan Fattman (R) said there is a “perfect storm” of bad Democrat policies hurting public safety.

A 2017 Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court ruling prohibits state and local law enforcement from working with ICE on immigration enforcement.

Law enforcement can’t honor ICE detainers and have to release illegal alien criminals back onto the streets.

Illegal aliens who are child predators are being released after bail as low as $500 if there is any at all.

Fattman warned this was happening everywhere in Massachusetts.

The state also has a Right to Shelter law that requires homeless families regardless of immigration status receive temporary housing.

Massachusetts has spent nearly $3 billion providing shelter for illegal aliens since the Biden border crisis began in 2021.

The Boston Globe found more than 3,000 pages of crimes including rape, domestic violence, and assault occurring at taxpayer-funded illegal alien shelters.

“You have a perfect storm that’s happening in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts,” Fattman said. “We have 3,000 pages of public safety incidents, 3 billion-plus dollars spent on the taxpayers’ dime, and cities and towns across the commonwealth that are literally going broke.”

Democrats are sending Massachusetts down the tubes

Massachusetts Democrats control all the levers of power in the state.

Fattman pointed to Democrat Governor Maura Healey and the State Legislature for creating an illegal alien crisis.

“Ninety-nine percent of political asylum cases in our immigration courts get rejected,” Fattman explained. “So, the premise that these individuals will come to the commonwealth, and many of whom are good people, and that they might be able to work here, make lives here, it’s not true. So, we have spent $3 billion on 99% of people who are never going to be legal residents of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. We have lit the money on fire, and that is wrong.”

The Massachusetts lawmaker introduced a bill to have the Lunn ruling overturned.

“This is insanity, and it must change,” Fattman stated. “People are tired of this. They want safety for their children and their families. They want to be able to walk down the street and know that there’s nothing bad that’s going to happen to them, that they can work hard and get ahead. And that is not happening in the commonwealth.”

Fattman hoped that residents of the state would become fed up with the status quo.

“Massachusetts is viewed as a blue state, but there are large, large swaths of purple and red parts of the state and those places are just fed up,” Fattman said. “They’re fed up as individuals watching the headlines, seeing that their neighbors being assaulted, pregnant women are being injured at the hands of people who are not lawfully present in our state or country.”

Some Massachusetts politicians are welcoming Tom Homan’s illegal immigration crackdown.
