Tom Brady Just Traded His Playbook For Something That Has Domino’s Watching Nervously

Jan 12, 2026

The greatest quarterback in NFL history announced his second career.

Nobody saw this partnership coming.

And Tom Brady just traded his playbook for something that has Domino's watching nervously.

Tom Brady trades championship rings for delivery bag in Pizza Hut's new campaign

Pizza Hut tapped the seven-time Super Bowl champion to anchor its biggest marketing push of 2026.

The chain launched "Pizza Before the Hut" to promote its 16-inch Big New Yorker pizza at a special $10 price point.

Brady starred in a 30-second commercial playing a Pizza Hut delivery driver who keeps shouting his signature "hut" call with every pizza drop-off.

The ad shows Brady getting called "the GOAT" by a frat boy and even getting tackled by a grandmother who tells him to "shake it off, gramps."

But the campaign goes way beyond just commercials.

Pizza Hut created a nationwide contest that will give one entire city a free pizza party if their quarterback pulls off the challenge.

The first college or professional quarterback to say "pizza" immediately before "hut" during a nationally televised game wins.

Fans can tag their quarterbacks on social media with #PizzaBeforeTheHut to pressure them into making it happen.

The contest runs through February 8, covering the final stretch of college and NFL playoff seasons when Americans are glued to their screens.

"'Hut!' is woven into the fabric of football — it's the sound that sets every play in motion," Pizza Hut Chief Marketing Officer Melissa Friebe said. "When you launch the Big New Yorker for just $10, you've got to go big with everything around it: from partnering with the biggest name in football and the QB who has shouted 'hut' more than anyone, to a big challenge worthy of the moment with a big pizza party."

Pizza Hut makes desperate play to stop the bleeding

The Brady partnership comes at a make-or-break moment for Pizza Hut.

Parent company Yum Brands announced in November it's exploring a potential sale of the struggling pizza chain after seven straight quarters of declining same-store sales in the United States.

Pizza Hut's U.S. sales crashed 6% in the third quarter of 2025.

Between 2019 and 2024, Pizza Hut's slice of the American pizza market shrank from 22.6% down to 18.7%, according to Barclays.

Domino's has been eating Pizza Hut's lunch for years, taking the crown as America's largest pizza chain back in 2018 and never looking back.

Meanwhile, Taco Bell and KFC — Yum's other major brands — keep posting strong growth while Pizza Hut drags down the entire company's performance.

Your average Pizza Hut brings in $200,000 less each year than what Little Caesars, Domino's, and Papa John's locations pull in.

The chain's international franchisees are collapsing too — all 537 Pizza Hut locations in Turkey shut down after bankruptcy in January 2025.

That's why Pizza Hut is throwing everything at the wall with this Brady campaign and $10 Big New Yorker deal.

The company desperately needs to reverse years of sales declines before Yum decides to dump the brand entirely.

Brady's endorsement could draw eyeballs that Pizza Hut hasn't seen in years, especially among the football fans who make up their core customer base.

The campaign turns Brady's most famous on-field habit into an interactive game that keeps Pizza Hut's name bouncing around social media every time someone tags a quarterback.

And by timing the promotion to coincide with the biggest games of the year, Pizza Hut positions itself right where American families gather around TVs with pizza boxes already in mind.

Domino's and Papa John's have to be watching this Brady partnership with serious concern.

The GOAT lending his name to Pizza Hut — even in a lighthearted delivery driver role — gives the struggling chain instant credibility it hasn't earned on its own in nearly a decade.
