Tim Walz Made One Absurd Claim About His Manhood To Gavin Newsom And Got Instantly Mortified By Internet

Dec 13, 2025

Democrats spent months during the 2024 campaign trying to convince voters that Tim Walz represented authentic masculinity.

Their media pals ran countless stories about how "Coach Walz" would win back male voters.

But Tim Walz just got a brutal reminder on the status of his “man card” from the internet and this absurd claim during a podcast with Gavin Newsom.

Walz Claims He Scares Conservatives With His Masculinity

A resurfaced podcast clip just exposed the ugly truth about what even fellow Democrats really think of Walz's manhood claims.

The March 2025 episode of California Governor Gavin Newsom's podcast went viral this week for all the wrong reasons.

Walz and Newsom sat down to discuss the Democrat Party's catastrophic failure with male voters.

Newsom opened the conversation by admitting Democrats need to "work on" their masculinity problem and their inability to connect with young men.

That's when Walz made his move.

"I think some of us scare them," Walz told Newsom about conservative critics. "I think I scare them a little bit. That's why they spend so much time on me."

Newsom's reaction said everything.

The California governor burst into uncontrollable laughter right in Walz's face.

Even Newsom — one of the least masculine politicians in America — couldn't keep a straight face when Walz claimed to intimidate conservatives with his manliness.

"No, I'm serious!" Walz insisted after Newsom's laughter. "Because I can fix a truck, they know I'm not bulls***ing on this."

The ability to fix a truck apparently qualifies as peak masculinity in Walz's mind.

Walz's Track Record Tells a Different Story

The internet immediately resurfaced Walz's greatest masculinity fails from the 2024 campaign.

Remember when Walz went on that infamous pheasant hunting trip to prove how manly he was? He spent three hours in the field and never fired a single shot.

When cameras finally caught him handling a shotgun, Walz struggled to load the weapon properly.

Then there was the Madden 25 incident.

Walz livestreamed himself playing the football video game with Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to appeal to young male voters just days before the election.

After the game, Walz posted on social media that AOC could "run a mean pick six."

Any football fan knows you don't "run" a pick-six — that's a defensive touchdown scored on an interception return. The offense doesn't run pick-sixes. The defense returns them.

Walz was supposedly a football coach who led his team to a state championship in 1999.

Except he was the assistant coach, not the head coach. And he never coached beyond the high school level.

That didn't stop him from comparing himself to former Auburn head coach Tommy Tuberville, who won an SEC Championship and coached at four Power 5 programs.

Social Media Delivers Brutal Reality Check

The mockery came fast and furious after the clip went viral.

Conservative commentator Shawn Farash wrote, "Only thing that scares me about Tim Walz is how he loads a shotgun."

Caitlyn Jenner piled on with a devastating response: "I am more 'masculine' than this clown Gov Walz."

One social media user captured the absurdity perfectly: "The guy who put tampon machines in men's bathrooms says he's masculine. So damn funny."

That's not hyperbole — Walz actually signed legislation requiring Minnesota schools to stock menstrual products in boys' bathrooms, earning him the nickname "Tampon Tim" from critics.

Another user asked, "Didn't this idiot change out just an air filter in one of his ads?" referencing Walz's campaign attempts to showcase his mechanical skills.

The comments kept coming.

"I see Walz is still trying to run the pick 6," one person joked, calling back to his football terminology fail.

"The two most unmasculine, supposedly heterosexual men, on the planet having a conversation about masculinity!" another wrote.

The timing made it even more humiliating for both governors.

Shortly after this podcast recording, Newsom himself became a punchline when video surfaced from the New York Times DealBook Summit showing him sitting in an awkward, legs-crossed position that looked physically painful.

Democrats Still Don't Get Their Male Voter Problem

What makes this exchange so revealing is that even Democrats can't sell the masculinity narrative to each other.

Newsom knew Walz's claim was ridiculous the second it left his mouth. That's why he laughed.

But Democrats are so desperate to win back male voters that they keep trying to redefine masculinity on their own terms.

During the podcast, Newsom talked about the need to separate "toxic masculinity" from masculinity itself — the same progressive talking point that drove men away from Democrats in the first place.

Walz acknowledged the Trump campaign successfully portrayed Democrats as weak during the 2024 race.

"It just baffled me how much time they spent trying to attack me, that I was not masculine enough in their vision," Walz said.

He's baffled that attacks worked when he admits they were successful? That's like being mystified why a batter swung at a pitch right down the middle of the plate.

The attacks worked because they were true.

Walz even admitted his identity isn't actually about hunting, football coaching, beards, or trucks — the very things he claimed made him masculine enough to scare conservatives.

Trump won male voters by massive margins in 2024 precisely because he didn't have to explain or defend his masculinity.

Walz sitting on a podcast with Newsom — both trying to convince themselves and viewers they understand manhood — is exactly why Democrats lost.

Real men don't spend hours on podcasts talking about how masculine they are.

And they definitely don't need Gavin Newsom to validate their claims.

The internet delivered the final verdict: if you have to tell people you're masculine, you're probably not.
