Taylor Swift has been a fixture at Kansas City Chiefs games since she began dating Travis Kelce.
She’s dealt with controversy since becoming linked with the team.
And Taylor Swift heard two words from Kansas City Chiefs coach Andy Reid that she never expected.
Chiefs coach Andy Reid praises Taylor Swift
Pop star Taylor Swift’s presence at Kansas City Chiefs games to cheer on her boyfriend, tight end Travis Kelce, has been polarizing to NFL fans.
She was booed after she was shown on the video board at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans before the Super Bowl between the Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles.
Chiefs head coach Andy Reid praised Swift for how she handles intense public scrutiny during an interview with NBC’s Pro Football Talk at the NFL scouting combine.
“She’s a good girl,” Reid said. “She handles that whole thing the right way, that’s a tough deal. But she does a great job with of handling it. Kelce, I think, does a great job with handling it.”
Swift is just like any other member of the Chiefs family to Reid.
“She’s part of the team, and like the other girlfriends and wives, they’re part of it. And that’s all part of the process,” Reid explained.
Reid has been supportive of the couple’s relationship dating back to 2023.
“Listen I’m a big fan so I’m glad she was here and I hope she enjoyed it,” Reid said after Swift attended a game in December 2023. “She’s got a great guy she’s dating right now, so I’m happy for both of them.”
Travis Kelce makes a big decision about his future
The Chiefs failed in the quest for a third Super Bowl win in a row after they were drubbed by the Eagles 40-22.
Kelce was non-committal on his future after the big game.
He said on his New Heights podcast that he hadn’t decided about his future.
The 35-year-old tight end posted career lows in touchdown catches and receiving yards since his injury plagued rookie year.
He has one more season under contract with the Chiefs.
The bitter defeat his team suffered in the Super Bowl inspired Kelce to come back for one more season.
Kelce sent a text message to ESPN host Pat McAfee that he was coming back.
“My dog!!! I’m coming back for sure. Going to try and get into the best shape I’ve been this offseason and get back to the mountaintop,” McAfee read on his ESPN show. “Got a real bad taste in my mouth with how I played in that last game and how I got the guys ready for battle!!!!”
McAfee confirmed that it was from the man himself.
“I think you can say Travis Kelce is coming back to play football yet again,” McAfee said.
The three-time Super Bowl champion is a surefire bet to be enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame after he hangs up his cleats.
Now, he can try to end his career on a high note.
