Democrats are up in arms over Elon Musk and his Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) taking a sledgehammer to the federal bureaucracy.
But Donald Trump ordered Elon Musk to be more aggressive with his DOGE cuts.
And then San Francisco’s liberal Mayor borrowed one page from the DOGE playbook that caught Elon Musk by surprise.
The federal government has become a massive monstrosity over the past few decades that is full of waste, fraud, and abuse.
With the United States nearly $37 trillion in debt, Donald Trump campaigned on a promise to create DOGE and task Elon Musk with leading its effort to find waste, fraud, and abuse to cut within the federal government.
And Americans have been shocked by what Elon Musk and his team of DOGE auditors have uncovered so far.
Under Musk’s direction, DOGE has already saved taxpayers an estimated $65 billion.
DOGE terminated 89 contracts worth $881 million at the Department of Education, cancelled 104 DEI related contracts worth over $1 billion, uncovered $182 million worth of HHS contracts meant entirely for administrative expenses, among several other items ripe with fraud and abuse.
Of course, Democrats and the left-wing media are in a frenzy over DOGE taking a sledgehammer to the federal bureaucracy.
But not only is Donald Trump standing behind Elon Musk, but he’s also ordering him to be even more aggressive with his cuts.
“ELON IS DOING A GREAT JOB, BUT I WOULD LIKE TO SEE HIM GET MORE AGGRESSIVE,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “REMEMBER, WE HAVE A COUNTRY TO SAVE, BUT ULTIMATELY, TO MAKE GREATER THAN EVER BEFORE. MAGA!”
Aside from finding wasteful spending to cut, Musk is also bringing efficiency to the federal workforce by making federal employees come back to work.
Since the pandemic, many federal employees have been working from home each day.
Donald Trump took Elon Musk’s suggestion and signed an executive order ending work from home options for federal employees and directing them to return back to the office.
Even though Democrats are up in arms over DOGE, one Mayor in an unexpected place just took a page out of Elon Musk’s DOGE playbook.
Newly-installed San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie will now require city employees to start back working in the office.
Lurie won election in November on a promise to implement reforms in San Francisco.
“Mayor Daniel Lurie is ordering all San Francisco City Hall employees to return to the office at least four days a week as he looks to improve government efficiency and boost foot traffic around the Civic Center,” the San Francisco Chronicle reported.
“Lurie’s directive, laid out in a Tuesday memo obtained by the Chronicle, applies to more than 10,000 city staffers who are currently working hybrid schedules, with most of them coming into the office three days a week,” the Chronicle continued. “Those workers have desk jobs in such areas as information technology, human resources, engineering, accounting and legal services.”
Lurie admitted that the in-office requirement would benefit the city “as an employer, as well as in its primary mission in serving the public.”
Big government, left-wing policies have turned San Francisco into a raging dumpster fire full of crime, drug abuse, and homelessness.
Mayor Lurie would be wise to watch what Elon Musk does with DOGE and follow his lead.
