The majority of people in the world are kind and decent.
But some folks are just downright evil.
And police were sickened by what this married couple in New Mexico forced their daughter to do with chickens.
Most people agree that abusing children is one of the most heinous crimes a person can commit.
But the unfortunate reality is that thousands of children are abused on a daily basis.
According to Child Protect, roughly five children die every day from child abuse.
One out of three girls and one out of five boys will be sexually abused before they turn 18 years old.
In 2010, 1,537 children died of abuse or neglect.
79.4% were under the age of 4, and 47.7% were under the age of 1.
In the United States, there are about 3.6 million cases of child abuse reported each year.
But for every incident of abuse that is reported, an estimated two incidents go unreported.
From physical to sexual, there are many forms of child abuse.
And the form of abuse a 15-year-old girl in New Mexico endured for the past several months will break your heart.
Detectives in Farmington, New Mexico, received a call from Child Protective Services about a potential case of abuse where a girl had been locked in a chicken coop.
“On September 16, 2024, detectives received a referral from Child Protective Services regarding concerns for a child’s welfare. Reports indicated the child had been locked in a chicken coop for extended periods and exposed to extreme weather conditions,” the police report read.
Fortunately, the detectives rescued the child from the home and took the parents to the slammer.
According to court documents, the girl was only given ramen noodles to eat while the other children in the house were allowed whatever they wanted.
The girl was locked in a “chicken coop for extended periods and exposed to extreme weather conditions.”
She was only allowed to use the bathroom twice per day.
“The 15-year-old victim told officials that 59-year-old Jammy Jackson and 36-year-old Patricia Madrid allegedly forced her to stand inside the chicken coop for as long as she was awake, approximately 17 hours at a time, every day from April to September,” KOB-TV reported. “The only time the victim didn’t have to stand in the coop was during a three-day family trip.”
The couple also allegedly beat the girl and pointed a gun at her.
When interviewed by the detectives, the couple – 59-year-old Jammy Jackson and 36-year-old Patricia Madrid – said they abused the girl because of her outbursts.
They denied the other claims made against them.
However, a search of their phones revealed text messages proving the abuse allegations were true.
“Following the investigation, on February 18, 2025, Patricia Madrid (36) and Jammy Jackson (59) were arrested and charged with 14 felony counts, including child abuse and conspiracy to commit child abuse,” the police report read. “This case underscores the critical collaboration between the Farmington Police Department and Child Protective Services in ensuring the safety and well-being of vulnerable children.”
The investigation remains ongoing.
