The Trump administration confronted sanctuary cities and states head on with Attorney General Bondi announcing lawsuits against New York and Illinois for defying federal immigration law.
New York Governor Kathy Hochul decried Bondi’s announcement as a “worthless, publicity-driven lawsuit.”
Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker declared his state would fight the case all the way to the Supreme Court.
“Unlike Donald Trump, we follow the law in Illinois. Now, maybe they put up with this kind of garbage in Florida, which is the home state of the head of the DOJ, but in Illinois we have grit, we are tough, we are strong and Donald Trump has no idea what he is up against when he attacks Illinois,” Pritzker declared.
Attorney Bondi responded to Pritzker and Hochul in an interview on Fox News where she made it clear that she relishes this fight.
“Bring it on,” Bondi stated.
Bondi slammed Pritzker and Hochul for defending illegal aliens over the rights of American citizens to live in safe communities.
“We will protect Americans. When they say they are tough and have grit, really? You are protecting illegal aliens over American citizens?” Bondi added.
Bondi warned other sanctuary cities and states that they had one more chance to fall in line on immigration enforcement or meet New York and Illinois’ fates.
“Not going to happen under Donald Trump’s administration. We will find illegal aliens, and we will deport them in Illinois, New York, and other states, and you better comply with federal law, or you are going to be next,” Bondi added.
Bondi cited the death of Laken Riley as the kind of tragedy that Donald Trump will work to prevent from happening, and that Democrats who still wanted to shield illegal aliens from deportation should talk to the families of the victims of illegal alien crime.
“We have spoken loud and clear. We are sick and tired of Americans being murdered and these states protecting illegal aliens. Talk to the family of Laken Riley and all of these other young women and men who have been murdered by illegal aliens. And let’s see what you think then when you want to protect them,” Bondi concluded.
