One long time Democrat U.S. Senator is now dusting off his resume thanks to Donald Trump

Nov 6, 2024

While all eyes were watching the Presidential ballot returns Tuesday night, there was far more than the White House on the line.

For example, the United States Senate was also hanging in the balance.

And now, one long-time Democrat U.S. Senator is now dusting off his resume thanks to Donald Trump.

Trump wins Ohio

Along with Florida, for several Presidential elections, Ohio was a game changer.

In 2004, it was Ohio that delivered defeat to Democrat nominee John Kerry.

But since then, the state has been moving gradually to the right.

And when Donald Trump’s America-First, conservative-populism platform took over the GOP, the Buckeye State’s rightward march quickened.

Trump won the rust-belt state in 2016 and 2020.

And in 2024, Ohio wasn’t even considered a swing state.

The 45th President of the United States was expected to win – and it’s looking like he’s done exactly that.

And in a big way.

Ohio has been called for Trump.

With nearly 90% of the ballots counted, the former President holds about a 12-point lead over Kamala Harris.

Election analysts don’t believe there are enough potential Kamala votes to make up the lead.

But while the Trump victory was expected, Bernie Moreno’s prospects were considered a toss-up.

GOP flips Ohio red

Heading into the election, Republican challenger Bernie Moreno held a small 1.7-point advantage over incumbent Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH).

But all the polling was inside the margin of error.

And it’s looking like the 1.7-point lead was wrong.

The race has been called by the Daily Wire, Fox News, and the Associated Press — and Moreno defeated the incumbent Ohio Democrat by more than 2-points.

In fact, with 87% of the state reporting, the Trump-endorsed Moreno leads Brown by about 4.5-points.

The analysts don’t believe there are enough votes remaining out of Cleveland, Akron, Toledo, Dayton, and Cincinnati to overcome Moreno’s lead.

With West Virginia also flipping red, and Republicans looking to keep their contested seats in Texas, Florida, and Missouri, Moreno’s victory should give the Republican Party a boost in the Senate.

Say goodbye to gaslighter Brown

The 57-year-old Republican is a prominent businessman and civic leader in the Cleveland area.

He was an early Trump-backer.

Meanwhile, now-outgoing Senator Brown attempted to campaign as a Trump-ally – however, nothing could be further from the truth.

According to Left-leaning Nate Silver’s FiveThirtyEight, Brown voted with Joe Biden 98% of the time – far from the moderate independent that he tried to convince Ohio voters he was.

However, Moreno has promised to support Trump’s MAGA platform.

Moreno will join J.D. Vance as Republican U.S. Senators from Ohio.

However, J.D. Vance’s seat could soon need to be filled if voters promote him to the White House alongside Donald Trump.
