Obama’s Top Lawyer Emailed One Man Hours After Getting Secret CIA Award

Feb 4, 2026

DOJ document dumps promises bombshells, but the real story is often different from what you expect.

This time the spotlight landed on someone operating in the shadows for decades.

And Obama's top lawyer got exposed emailing one man hours after getting a secret CIA award and what she said raises disturbing questions.

The Secret CIA Medal That Ruemmler Never Mentioned

Kathy Ruemmler served as Barack Obama's White House Counsel from 2011 to 2014.

She was one of the most powerful legal figures in Washington, D.C.

In 2015, CIA Director John Brennan gave her the CIA Agency Medal.

Ruemmler rushed to tell Jeffrey Epstein about it just hours after receiving the honor.

That email exchange stayed buried until Mike Benz exposed it on social media this week.

Here's what makes this revelation explosive.

The CIA Agency Medal isn't listed anywhere in Ruemmler's extensive biographies.

Not on Wikipedia, not in her Goldman Sachs executive profile, nowhere.

Benz discovered the award was deliberately kept out of the public record.

CIA Agency Medals are typically disclosed when recipients want people to know about them.

But Ruemmler never breathed a word about hers publicly.

She only told Jeffrey Epstein.

Why the CIA Gives Secret Awards to Lawyers

The CIA hands out Agency Medals to civilians who smooth the path for sensitive operations.

These recipients clear legal roadblocks or provide access the agency desperately needs but can't get through official channels.

The agency keeps these awards secret because the lawyers and fixers getting them don't want anyone asking what obstacles they removed or what doors they opened.

When Brennan gave Ruemmler the medal, she had already left the White House eight months earlier.

She was back in private practice at Latham & Watkins.

Brennan became CIA Director in March 2013 but waited two full years to issue the award.

If he'd given it to her while she was still White House Counsel, she could have bragged about it publicly.

Everyone would assume it was for her official government work.

Instead, he waited until she was a civilian at a private law firm.

That firm played a central role in the CIA-led Russiagate operation against Donald Trump.

The timing put the CIA's woman right where they needed her.

Ruemmler's Disturbing Closeness to Epstein

Benz pointed out that Ruemmler blocked CIA disclosures on Benghazi from Congress to save Brennan's Senate confirmation in 2013.

Two years later, Brennan rewarded her with the CIA Agency Medal.

But the Epstein connections run much deeper than one email.

Ruemmler was the backup executor of Jeffrey Epstein's will.

She met with him dozens of times between July 2014 and May 2019, years after his 2008 conviction for procuring a child for prostitution.

Emails released by Congress in November 2025 revealed Ruemmler called Epstein "wonderful Jeffrey" and said "I adore him."

The correspondence shows Epstein booking and paying for her first-class trips to Europe.

She told one contact that Epstein called her his "great defender" and wanted her to meet with Melinda Gates to give "the other side of Jeffrey."

Court filings unsealed in January 2026 show Ruemmler did far more than socialize.

She drafted public statements for Epstein responding to sex abuse allegations.

She advised him on protecting his sweetheart 2008 plea deal.

She edited his correspondence with U.S. Senators.

At 4 a.m. in March 2019, Epstein texted a draft statement to a contact, calling it a "Ruemmler proposal" and writing "this is what Kathy suggests we tell Wapo."

The statement claimed prosecutors pursued Epstein too aggressively and rejected accusations he got special treatment.

The Russian Intelligence Bombshell

The Epstein files released this week contained another explosive revelation that puts Ruemmler's connections in darker context.

Intelligence sources told the Daily Mail that Epstein ran "the world's largest honeytrap operation" on behalf of the KGB.

The newly released documents contain 1,056 references to Vladimir Putin and 9,629 references to Moscow.

Emails show Epstein planning meetings with Putin in 2011 and 2014.

Intelligence officials believe Epstein's network collected compromising material on Western politicians and business figures for Russian intelligence.

Sources claim Robert Maxwell introduced Epstein to the espionage world.

Maxwell was Ghislaine's father and a businessman suspected of working with both the KGB and Mossad in the 1970s.

Intelligence sources say he laundered Russian money into the West with Epstein's help.

JPMorgan's suspicious activity reports show Epstein maintained accounts linked to sanctioned Russian banks Alfa-Bank and Sberbank.

Senator Ron Wyden revealed in July 2025 that Treasury's Epstein file documents 4,725 wire transfers totaling nearly $1.1 billion.

Russian banks processed payments related to sex trafficking.

Many victims came from Russia, Belarus, Turkey, and Turkmenistan.

U.S. intelligence monitored Epstein's Russian connections for years but UK agents held back because of his friendship with Prince Andrew.

The Real Power Players Nobody's Watching

Everyone expected the Epstein files to expose celebrities and politicians.

Bill Clinton, Donald Trump, powerful businessmen.

But Epstein was a connector.

The people who mattered most weren't the ones making headlines.

They were the ones who understood how power works behind closed doors.

Like Kathy Ruemmler.

She moved seamlessly between the Obama White House, elite law firms, secret CIA recognition, and now Goldman Sachs.

At each stop she accumulated more institutional power and access.

Clinton starts to look less like a power player and more like a managed asset when you see Ruemmler's career arc.

Clinton was the puppet whose name everyone recognized.

Ruemmler was the hand on the strings nobody noticed.

Goldman Sachs has stood by her despite the revelations.

She currently serves as the bank's Chief Legal Officer and General Counsel.

The bank claims the emails were "private correspondence well before Kathy Ruemmler joined Goldman Sachs."

The Russian intelligence connections explain how Epstein maintained his ultra-wealthy lifestyle that never matched his business income.

Sources say it fills in the funding gaps U.S. surveillance couldn't track to legitimate sources.

If Epstein ran a honeypot operation for Russian intelligence, Ruemmler's role becomes far more alarming.

His closest legal and political allies weren't just friends.

They were part of a system built on secrecy, leverage, and quiet cooperation across borders and agencies.

And they existed within the Obama White House.

That's why Kathy Ruemmler matters.

She represents power that thinks it never needs to explain itself.

These operators have existed above the scandal meter and beneath public scrutiny for years.

But now Epstein files are exposing the levers of power the elites wanted to remain hidden forever.
