Democrats are playing with fire resisting Donald Trump.
They’re finally going to get burned.
And Nancy Pelosi was in bad shape after CNN gave her this rude wake-up call.
Democrats are using a losing strategy fighting Donald Trump
Democrats and their media allies are hysterical over federal employees being fired or laid off as part of President Donald Trump’s strategy to make the government more efficient.
Trump is embarking on the most aggressive attempt to reduce the size of the federal workforce in decades.
Dismantling the permanent bureaucracy in the Washington, D.C. Swamp strikes at the heart of the Democrats’ power.
That’s why Democrats have tried to turn fired federal employees into sympathetic figures.
CNN and MSNBC are routinely bringing them on for sob stories about how cruel the Trump administration is.
House and Senate Democrats brought fired federal employees as guests to Trump’s joint address to Congress.
Democrats want to use them as a way to attack the Trump administration.
Veteran pollster Frank Luntz warned that using fired federal employees to attack Trump was a bad strategy during an appearance on CNN News Central.
“It’s not going to work for them because people see through it,” Luntz said. “They see the politicization of it.”
He pointed out that Democrats have tried and failed with this strategy before.
“And I saw this for the first time back in the Enron days, when they tried to pin the Republicans for the behavior of corporate America,” Luntz explained. “If you look like you’re doing it for political reasons, they will reject you. If you look like you’re doing it for the genuine health and safety and wellbeing of the American people, they will embrace you.”
Federal employees don’t come across as sympathetic figures
The other problem with the Democrat strategy is the reaction of federal employees to the Trump administration.
Many federal workers had a meltdown over being asked to return to the office for work after enjoying generous remote work privileges.
A federal employee went on MSNBC and argued that an email asking her to list five things she did on the job last week was harassment.
These are jobs where they’ve led a charmed life and avoided the downsizing that workers in the private sector face.
Democrats are so out of touch with the rest of the country that they can’t see that Washington, D.C. bureaucrats aren’t sympathetic figures.
It’s obvious that they’re playing up their plight for political points.
Journalists would never treat someone getting laid off from a factory in middle America as a story.
Democrats cheered when Hillary Clinton bragged in 2016 that she was “going to put a lot of coal miners and coal companies out of business.”
Luntz previously told CNN that voters who supported Democrats and switched to Trump in 2024 supported his administration disrupting the system.
“They’re reacting to it because they love the pace of change. They were very fed up over the last four years. They wanted action. They wanted results,” Luntz stated. “They wanted to see a reduction in wasteful Washington spending. And they’re seeing that.”
Democrats are fighting a losing battle putting fired federal employees front and center.
