Michelle Obama complained about one shocking problem that left Americans shaking their heads

Nov 9, 2025

Michelle Obama has lived a life most Americans could only dream about.

But she wants everyone to know how hard she's had it.

And Michelle Obama complained about one shocking problem that left Americans shaking their heads.

Michelle Obama spent eight years in the White House as First Lady after her husband Barack won the Presidency in 2008.

The media treated the couple like royalty during their time in Washington, D.C.

Now Michelle is back in the spotlight promoting her new book, and the victimhood routine is in full swing.

Michelle Obama says she didn't get enough "grace" as First Lady

During an upcoming interview with Good Morning America host Robin Roberts, Michelle Obama revealed what she really thinks about her time in the White House.¹

Roberts read from Obama's new book: "You said 'we were all too aware that as a first black couple, we couldn't afford any missteps.' And you also say 'as a black woman, I was under a particularly white, hot glare.' Did you feel that?"

"For sure," Obama replied without hesitation.²

"You can't afford to get anything wrong because you didn't get the — at least until the country came to know us," Obama continued. "We didn't get the grace that I think some other families have gotten."³

Wait until you hear this part.

Barack Obama's election made history as the first black president.

The media coverage was overwhelmingly positive – many outlets treated him with near-worshipful reverence.

Michelle Obama herself was celebrated as an exceptionally popular First Lady throughout both terms.

But apparently that wasn't enough grace for her.

The pattern of perpetual grievance

This isn't the first time Obama has positioned herself as a victim despite her extraordinary privilege.

Back in June 2020, she delivered a virtual commencement address that turned into a racial grievance fest.⁴

Within 90 seconds, she pivoted from congratulating graduates to claiming America was built on "the age-old fault lines of race and power."

She told students that "for too many people in this country, no matter how hard they work, there are structural barriers working against them that just make the road longer and rockier."⁵

Rather than offering hope and inspiration to young people starting their careers, Obama chose to reinforce the narrative that minorities are helpless victims of an irredeemably racist system.

In a 2021 interview, she complained about her "biggest worry" as a black mother.

"Every time they get in a car by themselves, I worry about what assumption is being made by somebody who doesn't know everything about them," Obama said about her daughters – who happen to be followed by Secret Service agents 24/7.⁶

She actually claimed: "I, like so many parents of black kids, the innocent act of getting a license puts fear in our hearts."⁷

Those daughters attended Sidwell Friends School in Washington, D.C., one of the most elite private schools in the nation.

They've lived lives of extraordinary privilege that 99.9% of Americans – of any race – will never experience.

The affirmative action admission she won't acknowledge

Obama's own comments suggest she benefited tremendously from the very racial preferences she now defends.

During an October interview, she admitted: "I wasn't good on SATs, so all the scores said 'you don't belong at Princeton.'"⁸

Princeton typically requires SAT scores in the 98-99th percentile for admission.

A white classmate who ranked 7th in their high school class didn't get into any Ivy League schools she applied to.⁹

Michelle ranked 32nd in her class but got into Princeton.¹⁰

That opened every door that followed – Harvard Law School, prestigious law firm positions, and eventually the path to the White House.

Rather than expressing gratitude for the opportunities America provided, Obama harbors a visceral resentment that will apparently never be satisfied.

The financial windfall that followed

Since leaving the White House, the Obamas have accumulated a fortune estimated at $70 million.¹¹

They signed a $65 million book deal with Penguin Random House in 2017.¹²

Michelle's memoir "Becoming" sold 750,000 copies on its first day and has moved more than 10 million copies worldwide.¹³

The couple also landed a lucrative Netflix production deal reportedly worth around $50 million.¹⁴

They own an $8.1 million mansion in Washington, D.C. and an $11.75 million estate on Martha's Vineyard.¹⁵

Michelle commands speaking fees up to $225,000 per appearance.¹⁶

For someone who claims America didn't give her enough "grace," she's certainly been rewarded handsomely.

The Obamas entered the White House worth about $1.3 million.¹⁷

They left and became multi-millionaires many times over.

Yet Michelle continues painting herself as a victim of a system that has actually been extraordinarily generous to her at every turn.

Americans are tired of being lectured about their supposed racism by one of the most privileged women in the country.

A touch of gratitude instead of perpetual bitterness would be a welcome change.
