Melania Trump’s role in the 2024 election is unlike either of Donald Trump’s two previous campaigns.
The former First Lady is speaking out more than she ever has before.
And now Melania Trump went on Fox News and blindsided everyone with this major announcement.
Melania Trump’s support for abortion upends the campaign
The big bombshell from Melania Trump’s memoir was Melania announcing she supported unrestricted abortion up until birth.
Melania Trump falsely claimed Pro-Life laws restricted a woman’s freedom, and that babies in the womb didn’t possess a right to life.
These comments allowed Democrats to attack Donald Trump and J.D. Vance as extremists for Trump appointing the judges that provided the critical votes to overturn Roe v. Wade and end the historical mistake of nationwide abortion-on-demand.
Fox News host Maria Bartiromo asked Melania Trump if her husband knew she was going to write a memoir where she came out in agreement with Kamala Harris on the Democrats’ number one issue.
Melania answered in the affirmative.
“Yes. He knew my position and my beliefs since the day we met. And I believe in individual freedom. I want to decide what I want to do with my body. I think I don’t want government in my personal business. I think it’s very important,” Melania Trump replied.
Melania doubled down on her incorrect assertion that abortion-on-demand is a basic matter of freedom.
“And as I said in the book, and it’s very well explained in the chapter, what does really ‘My body, my choice’ mean? Because timing really matters. And also the restrictions. So I encourage people to read it, because we live in the world that everybody has — should have individual freedom,” Melania stated.
Bartiromo asked the former First Lady if Donald Trump knew she planned to undercut the Republicans in the middle of an election with her support for abortion.
Melania replied that her husband knew what she was going to do, and he accepted it.
“He knew my beliefs, as I said, so he knew it would be in the book. He let me be who I am, and he let me believe what I believe. He let me be my own person, and he respects that and I respect that, as I let him be his own person. He has different beliefs, and he will do what he believes. He will be — if he — he will be elected official,” Melania added.
Donald Trump gives his explanation
Donald Trump responded to Melania Trump’s support for abortion in an interview with Fox News correspondent Bill Melugin.
Trump explained to Melugin that he told Melania she needed to follow her “heart” on the matter and write what she believed.
“I said, ‘You have to stick with your heart,’” Trump stated. “I’ve said that to everybody, ‘You have to go with your heart.’ There are some people that are very, very far right on the issue, meaning without exceptions, and then there are other people who view it a little bit differently than that.”
“I’m not going to tell you what to do,” Donald Trump added.
Donald Trump wasn’t going to throw his wife under the bus.
But that answer didn’t endear him to Pro-Life activists nonetheless.
