Tim Walz thought he could score political points after an ICE shooting in Minneapolis.
He made a dangerous miscalculation.
And Megyn Kelly slammed Tim Walz with one brutal word after his ICE shooting statement.
Kelly destroys Walz for reckless attack on ICE
An ICE agent shot and killed 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good in Minneapolis Wednesday morning during a federal immigration enforcement operation.
The Department of Homeland Security immediately released a statement defending the agent's actions.
"An ICE officer, fearing for his life, the lives of his fellow law enforcement and the safety of the public, fired defensive shots," the DHS statement read. "He used his training and saved his own life and that of his fellow officers."
DHS said Good "weaponized her vehicle, attempting to run over our law enforcement officers in an attempt to kill them."
Video from the scene shows Good's vehicle reversing before moving forward as an ICE agent held onto the door handle.
The agent positioned near the front of the vehicle drew his weapon and fired three times as the SUV accelerated toward him.
President Trump backed his administration's account of events.
"The woman driving the car was very disorderly, obstructing and resisting, who then violently, willfully, and viciously ran over the ICE Officer, who seems to have shot her in self defense," Trump posted on Truth Social.
But Minnesota Governor Tim Walz saw a chance to attack the Trump administration before any investigation was complete.
Walz fired off a post on X responding directly to DHS.
"I've seen the video," Walz wrote. "Don't believe this propaganda machine. The state will ensure there is a full, fair, and expeditious investigation to ensure accountability and justice."
Walz called DHS a "propaganda machine" and accused the federal government of lying about what happened.
Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey piled on with even more inflammatory rhetoric.
Frey called DHS claims "bullsh*t" and told ICE agents to "get the f**ck out" of Minneapolis.
Both Democrat politicians rushed to judgment before investigators could even process the crime scene.
SiriusXM host Megyn Kelly had seen enough.
Kelly fired back at Walz with a post that cut right to the heart of his reckless behavior.
"This is so irresponsible," Kelly wrote. "Wait. Wait until we've seen and know more. How dare you – as the sitting governor! – further inflame an already charged situation by declaring the officer's defense 'propaganda?' Shameful."
That one word captured exactly what Walz did.
Shameful.
A sitting governor attacking federal law enforcement officers and calling their account "propaganda" before any investigation was complete.
Kelly also slammed Mayor Frey for his outburst.
"Try to control yourself," Kelly told Frey. "This cop almost got run over by this woman, who accelerated into him. It's right here in this angle of the incident."
Kelly posted video evidence showing the ICE agent in clear danger as Good's vehicle moved toward him.
Conservative commentators rallied behind Kelly's takedown of the Minnesota Democrats.
Pro-Trump commentator Benny Johnson shared video and called the evidence "irrefutable" that Good "HIT the federal agent with her car."
"CLEAN SHOOT: New irrefutable video evidence shows that the Minneapolis Democrat Terrorist HIT the federal agent with her car," Johnson posted. "ICE Agent is lucky to be alive. Fast reflexes saved his life."
Outkick founder Clay Travis accused Frey of spreading an "inflammatory lie."
"The ICE agent was clearly contacted by the woman in this car," Travis posted. "Mayor Frey calling this self defense 'bullshit' is an inflammatory lie."
Republican strategist Dustin Grage pointed out that Walz's past rhetoric helped create this situation.
Walz previously compared ICE agents to Nazi Germany's Gestapo.
"Now even Democrats are confirming this individual was following ICE throughout the day," Grage posted. "This is what happens when Tim Walz calls ICE agents Gestapo."
When a governor spends months demonizing federal law enforcement as Nazis, he creates an environment where people think it's acceptable to attack them.
Fox News anchor Lawrence Jones questioned Frey's judgment.
"What is Jacob Frey thinking?" Jones asked. "Does he want his city to burn again?"
That's exactly what Kelly was warning about.
Walz and Frey threw gasoline on an already explosive situation by attacking the ICE agent before anyone knew the full facts.
The shooting happened just blocks from where George Floyd died in 2020.
Minneapolis went up in flames after that incident.
Local Democrat politicians learned they could weaponize police shootings for political gain.
They tried using the same playbook with this ICE shooting.
But there's a critical difference this time.
Video evidence clearly shows the ICE agent faced a real threat.
Good's vehicle was moving toward him when he fired.
The agent had seconds to make a life-or-death decision.
DHS Secretary Kristi Noem said Good had been "stalking and impeding" ICE agents' work throughout the day before the shooting.
Noem characterized Good's actions as "an act of domestic terrorism."
Multiple witnesses confirmed Good had been following ICE agents and blocking their vehicles for hours.
When agents finally approached her vehicle and ordered her to exit, she refused.
Then she put the vehicle in motion with agents positioned around it.
The agent who fired was directly in the path of her vehicle.
He had nowhere to go.
Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O'Hara confirmed Good was not the target of any law enforcement investigation.
She inserted herself into the ICE operation and created the dangerous confrontation that ended in her death.
That's tragic.
But it doesn't make the ICE agent a murderer.
Walz knows all of this.
He's seen the same video everyone else has seen.
But he chose to attack DHS as a "propaganda machine" anyway because he saw political opportunity.
That's what makes Kelly's response so devastating.
She called out exactly what Walz did — put politics ahead of truth and public safety.
A governor is supposed to be a leader who promotes calm and lets investigations run their course.
Walz did the opposite.
He further inflamed tensions by declaring the federal government was lying before anyone could determine the facts.
Kelly nailed it with that one word.
Shameful.
Walz wanted to manufacture another George Floyd moment to attack Trump and federal law enforcement.
But the facts don't support his narrative.
Video evidence backs up the ICE agent's account.
And conservative voices like Megyn Kelly aren't letting him get away with it.
