Meghan Markle is trying to find a way to jump start her career.
It’s proving to be harder than she ever expected.
And Meghan Markle was steaming mad after she got this brutal rejection.
Meghan Markle is fuming over backlash to her lifestyle brand
Former D-list actress Meghan Markle is trying to reinvent herself as a lifestyle guru in the mold of Martha Stewart.
She announced her lifestyle brand American Riviera Orchard last year.
The brand will include expensive jams and dog treats.
American Riviera Orchard is set to launch alongside her new Netflix reality show With Love, Meghan in March.
Royal author Tom Quinn told The Sun that Meghan is “upset and stressed” about the criticism that American Riviera Orchard has received.
Critics have mocked the possibility of paying more than $100 for a bag of dog treats.
On top of that, the brand has been mired in trademark issues ahead of its launch.
Quinn said that Meghan has been worried about the launch of the brand after the problems getting it started.
“Friends have noticed that like all couples Harry and Meghan have their rows and disagreements,” Quinn told The Sun. “These are made worse simply because, unlike most couples, they spend almost all their time together.”
The struggles surrounding American Riviera Orchard have added to the couple’s stress.
“The relationship also gets trickier when things don’t go well with Meghan’s businesses — Meghan was hugely upset and stressed when her internet home-making venture was mocked, and this took its toll on her relationship with Harry,” Quinn explained.
America Riviera Orchard has filed trademarks that indicate where the brand could be headed.
The brand trademarked stationary, pet shampoo, soap, marmalades, butter, kitchen linen, and beverageware.
Meghan’s Netflix show will feature her cooking and gardening in a rented house with her celebrity pals.
Meghan was reduced to tears over the internet mocking her
America Riviera Orchard debuted last March on social media when Meghan showed the brand’s first product, a limited-edition strawberry jam.
Meghan sent the strawberry jam, which was individually numbered up to 50, to her celebrity friends like actress Mindy Kaling and reality show star Kris Jenner.
Quinn said that Meghan was upset at the ridicule from the public about the debut of American Riviera Orchard last year.
“The one fly in the ointment is Meghan’s new internet brand, America Riviera Orchard,” Quinn told The Mirror. “Meghan was in tears when the brand launched and her new jam was widely mocked for being expensive and nothing special.”
Quinn claimed that Meghan was expecting her strawberry jam to be a big hit and wasn’t prepared for any backlash.
“She is especially sensitive about any criticism of her luxurious lifestyle in the US – from her point of view this is something to be admired, not criticized,” Quinn said.
Meghan hoped that she would be able to make seven figures off American Riviera Orchard in its first year.
But the lukewarm reception the brand has received and its steep price tag could mean this is another high-profile debacle for the Duchess of Sussex.
