Maxine Waters just got slapped with a massive violation that has her party’s elites super nervous

Maxine Waters has been in Congress for over three decades.

But her latest scandal proves she still hasn’t learned basic rules.

And Maxine Waters just got slapped with a massive violation that has her party’s elites super nervous.

Waters campaign forced to pay $68,000 for breaking the law

California Representative Maxine Waters has built her career on attacking Republicans and screaming about imaginary injustices.

The longtime Democrat loves to point fingers at everyone else for supposed wrongdoing.

But Waters just got caught red-handed breaking actual laws with her own campaign.

The Federal Election Commission hit Waters with a $68,000 penalty after determining her 2020 campaign committee broke multiple election rules.

The FEC probe revealed that Waters’ campaign committee, Citizens for Waters, committed serious violations of campaign finance laws.

According to the official FEC documents, the commission accused Citizens for Waters of "failing to accurately report receipts and disbursements in calendar year 2020," "knowingly accepting excessive contributions" and "making prohibited cash disbursements."

Waters’ campaign was required to sign a binding agreement to pay the substantial penalty rather than contest the charges in court.

The deal also mandates that Waters’ campaign treasurer complete a specialized FEC training program within twelve months.

This shows just how serious the violations were that even Waters knew she couldn’t win in court.

Waters broke multiple laws with her shady campaign practices

The FEC probe uncovered a pattern of problematic behavior by Waters’ campaign operation.

Citizens for Waters had accepted excessive campaign contributions from seven people totaling $19,000 in 2019 and 2020, despite the maximum legal individual contribution being capped at $2,800.

The committee did return those excessive donations, though the FEC noted this was done in an "untimely" fashion.

Additionally, Waters’ campaign "made four prohibited cash disbursements that were each in excess of $100, totaling $7,000," according to the FEC findings.

Federal law prohibits campaigns from making large cash payments specifically to prevent the kind of shady dealing Waters was apparently engaged in.

The FEC requires campaigns to keep detailed records of all expenditures, but cash payments make it impossible to track where the money really went.

This isn’t Waters’ first ethics scandal

Waters has a long history of questionable financial dealings that would have ended most politicians’ careers.

A Fox News Digital investigation in 2023 revealed that Waters’ campaign paid her daughter $192,300 for a "slate mailer" operation between January 2021 and December 2022.

That was just one payment out of thousands that Waters has made to her daughter over the years for campaign work.

Waters has funneled over $1 million to her daughter’s firm since 2003 according to campaign finance records.

This kind of nepotism allows Waters to keep campaign money in the family while claiming it’s for legitimate services.

A previous complaint in 2018 regarding Waters’ campaign accepting questionable contributions was dismissed by the FEC in a 5-1 vote.

Waters’ attorney Leilani Beaver sent the FEC a letter maintaining the campaign finance violations were "errors" that "were not willful or purposeful."

But when you’ve been in Congress for over 30 years and keep making the same "mistakes," it starts to look like a pattern.

Democrats stay silent while Waters breaks the rules

Waters serves as the top Democrat on the House Financial Services Committee, where she’s supposed to oversee financial regulations and prevent fraud.

The irony is thick that someone charged with preventing financial crimes can’t even run her own campaign legally.

Waters has spent years grandstanding about Republican corruption while apparently running her own crooked operation.

She’s famous for shouting down opponents and claiming moral superiority, but this scandal shows she’s no different from the politicians she criticizes.

Democrats who usually rush to defend their own have been notably quiet about Waters’ legal troubles.

That silence speaks volumes about how embarrassing this scandal is for the party.

Waters will have to pay the $68,000 fine and send her treasurer for remedial training on how to follow basic campaign finance laws.

For someone who’s been in Congress since 1991, needing training on campaign finance basics is humiliating.

But Waters has shown time and again that she believes the rules don’t apply to her.

This latest fine proves that even Democrats in safe seats can’t break federal election laws without consequences.

The only question is whether Waters will finally learn to follow the rules or if taxpayers will have to foot the bill for more investigations into her shady practices.
