Matt Gaetz just got the shocking answer whether he will be charged with a crime

The swamp is gunning for Florida Congressman Matt Gaetz.

D.C. wants payback for Gaetz fighting the establishment.

And now Matt Gaetz just got the shocking answer whether he will be charged with a crime.

The House Ethics Committee voted to smear Gaetz by releasing their report on false allegations against him despite the fact that Gaetz resigned from Congress and the committee has no jurisdiction over him.

This report contained the bombshell – but ultimately false allegation – that Gaetz had sex with a 17-year-old.

Joe Biden’s Justice Department investigated this matter for three years and found no evidence of a crime.

That should have been the big clue Gaetz was the victim of a smear campaign.

But Mike DeForest of WKMG CBS in Orlando actually ended up adding more proof to vindicate Gaetz by asking Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody if Gaetz was under investigation for crimes since the report alleged Gaetz slept with a minor in Florida.

Moody’s office replied that any such investigation would begin at the local level with the county sheriff.

“Allegations of violations of state criminal law would be investigated by law enforcement in the appropriate jurisdiction, such as a local police department, sheriff’s office or the Florida Department of Law Enforcement,” the statement began.

“To determine if the agencies in the relevant jurisdictions have received information from the House Ethics Committee or have initiated investigations, you would need to contact those law enforcement agencies directly. Single-circuit crimes would be prosecuted by the state attorney where the crime occurred,” the statement added.

DeForest then reached out to the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office and got a definitive response.

“The initial investigation into Joel Greenberg began with the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) after latent fingerprints, identified through a forensic examination conducted by the SCSO Forensics Division, were found on an envelope containing harassing communications sent to his then-political opponent, Brian Beute,” the statement began.

The statement explained that the sheriff’s office turned the initial matter over to the Justice Department after determining Gaetz associate Joel Greenberg broke federal law.

“The SCSO then reviewed state laws and determined that the crime involved federal violations due to the use of the federal postal system, which would result in stronger penalties. At that point, federal law enforcement requested to take over the investigation because the case involved more serious federal charges,” the statement added.

As a result, the SCSO ceased its involvement, and federal agencies took over the continued and expanded investigation as directed out of Washington, D.C.

“The SCSO is committed to investigating criminal activity, but an investigation can only begin when there is a victim or direct knowledge of a crime,” the statement continued.

The sheriff’s office said that for an investigation into a crime like the ones Gaetz was accused of, a victim would have to provide a sworn statement.

No victim came forward to make such a statement.

“This requires a sworn statement or affidavit from the victim outlining the alleged crime or information that warrants further investigation. No victim in the sexual activity allegation is known to the SCSO or has come forward with allegations relating to this report,” the statement read.

The sheriff’s office revealed the Justice Department communicated to them that it did not intend to pursue charges, which by this point meant the statute of limitations expired.

“By the time federal investigators had a verbal conversation with the SCSO regarding their findings and decision not to pursue federal charges, the state’s statute of limitations had long expired,” the statement explained.

There was no victim, no evidence of a crime found by the feds, and the statute of limitations expired so the Seminole County Sheriff’s office closed the matter.

“Since the statute of limitations for these alleged crimes has expired and no victim or sworn affidavit has been provided, we are unable to conduct an independent investigation, regardless of the findings from the House of Representatives Committee on Ethics,” the statement concluded.
