Liz Cheney’s crusade to destroy Donald Trump may only end up destroying herself.
Cheney is now in big trouble.
And Liz Cheney just got accused of committing this terrible crime.
January 6th Committee comes under fire
Georgia Congressman Barry Loudermilk (R-GA) chaired the House Administration Oversight Subcommittee’s investigation into the conduct of the January 6th Committee.
The investigation uncovered mountains of evidence that the January 6th Committee’s investigation was a sham, patched together to frame Donald Trump for the false charge of inciting an insurrection on January 6.
A bombshell new report from House Administration Oversight singled out Liz Cheney for potentially criminal conduct and recommended an FBI investigation.
“Based on the evidence obtained by this Subcommittee, numerous federal laws were likely broken by Liz Cheney, the former Vice Chair of the January 6 Select Committee, and these violations should be investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation,” the report read.
The report accused Cheney of witness tampering because of her actions regarding the January 6th Committee’s star witness, Cassidy Hutchinson.
“Evidence uncovered by the Subcommittee revealed that former Congresswoman Liz Cheney tampered with at least one witness, Cassidy Hutchinson, by secretly communicating with Hutchinson without Hutchinson’s attorney’s knowledge,” the report continued.
Hutchinson was a surprise witness whose testimony Cheney arranged.
In her appearance before the January 6th Committee, Hutchinson falsely testified that Donald Trump attempted to choke a Secret Service agent and commandeer his vehicle after agents informed him they couldn’t take him to the Capitol.
None of this happened, and now Hutchinson is realizing that she could face perjury charges.
Cheney’s problematic communications with Hutchinson
Text messages showed that Cheney backchanneled to speak with Hutchinson through former Trump aide-turned co-host on ABC’s The View, Alyssa Farah Griffin.
“Her one concern was so long ad [sic] you have counsel, she can’t really ethically talk to you without him,” Griffin told Hutchinson on April 28, 2022.
Cheney is a lawyer and professional ethics codes prevent her from speaking with someone who already obtained legal representation.
But on June 6, 2022, three days before the January 6th Committee hearings began, Cheney and Hutchinson were in contact.
“Hi, this is Cassidy Hutchinson. I’m sorry for reaching out this way, but I was hoping to have a private conversation with you (soon) if you are willing,” Hutchinson wrote to Cheney.
“I would be happy to. Let me know what time works for you,” Cheney replied.
“I’m free all day for a call or in-person, whichever you prefer. I really, really appreciate this,” Cheney added.
The Loudermilk investigation’s report charges that these conversations violated federal witness tampering laws.
“This secret communication with a witness is improper and likely violates 18 U.S.C. 1512. Such action is outside the due functioning of the legislative process and therefore not protected by the Speech and Debate clause,” the committee’s report added.
The January 6th Committee’s report and accounting of events lie in ruins.
Hutchinson’s testimony turned out to not be true in key aspects.
The FBI placed at least 26 spies on the ground that day and won’t answer questions about if they incited violence.
And now Liz Cheney is facing allegations she broke the law to get to a witness before the hearing who allegedly perjured herself.
