Conservative students on college campuses face coordinated attacks from radical activists.
One California university became ground zero for leftist violence.
And a leftist mob caused mayhem at UC Berkeley that left the DOJ launching one major investigation.
Charlie Kirk's assassination two months ago was supposed to intimidate conservatives into silence.
Instead, Turning Point USA continued its college tour stop by stop, refusing to let violence win.
Monday night in Berkeley proved the radical Left hasn't learned a damn thing.
Masked agitators turned final tour stop into war zone
Turning Point USA's "This is the Turning Point" tour arrived at UC Berkeley for its final stop with Vice President JD Vance and Tucker Carlson among the speakers who've taken the stage honoring Kirk's legacy.¹
What should have been a peaceful event became a battleground when masked Antifa protesters descended on Zellerbach Hall.²
Videos captured the chaos as black-clad agitators lit flares in the middle of crowds, blocked all four exits from the venue, and chased down attendees trying to leave.³
One merchandise vendor selling Charlie Kirk memorial shirts ended up with his face bloodied after protesters attacked him on the street.⁴
The violent clashes led to multiple arrests, with at least four people taken into custody by Berkeley police.⁵

Protesters screamed "F*** you, fascist" at conservative students and families who came to hear speakers like comedian Rob Schneider and author Frank Turek.⁶
They weren't there for debate or dialogue.
These weren't peaceful protesters exercising their First Amendment rights.
This was organized political violence designed to intimidate conservatives off campus through force.
And Berkeley administrators watched it happen with the same indifference they showed in 2017 when Antifa shut down Milo Yiannopoulos and forced the cancellation of Ann Coulter's speech after causing over $100,000 in damage.⁷
The university spent close to $4 million on security for various conservative speaker events that year, yet somehow Antifa still operated with complete impunity.⁸
Nothing's changed.
Trump Administration launches federal investigation
Attorney General Pam Bondi announced the FBI's Joint Terrorism Task Force opened an investigation into what she called "violent riots" at Berkeley.⁹
"We will continue to spare no expense unmasking all who commit and orchestrate acts of political violence," Bondi posted on X. "Antifa is an existential threat to our nation."¹⁰
Assistant Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon, who leads the Civil Rights Division, didn't mince words about Berkeley's pattern of enabling leftist violence.
"We saw all of this at Berkeley back in 2017," Dhillon wrote on X. "UC Berkeley was sued, and settled the case."¹¹
Dhillon knows Berkeley's playbook intimately because she represented the Berkeley College Republicans in that 2017 lawsuit over the university canceling conservative speakers.¹²
Now she's using the full power of the Justice Department to investigate what she described as Berkeley's "potential failures" that led to "mob assault and thuggish intimidation of attendees exercising their First Amendment rights."¹³
Her division demanded UC Berkeley Police preserve all records related to the event including pre-planning communications, any coordination with outside groups, and the department's entire response to the violence.¹⁴
One 45-year-old man attending the event got hit by a glass bottle and required hospital transport.¹⁵
That's attempted murder, not protest.
The investigation focuses on whether Berkeley violated its commitment to provide adequate security and whether the university essentially created conditions allowing political violence to flourish.¹⁶
Conservative students have federal civil rights protections
Here's what Berkeley administrators don't want to admit.
Under Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, conservative students have the legal right to exist on campus without facing harassment or violence because of their political beliefs.
Dhillon pointed out the obvious question nobody at Berkeley wants to answer: "I see several issues of serious concern regarding campus and local security and Antifa's ability to operate with impunity in California."¹⁷
UC Berkeley Assistant Vice Chancellor Dan Mogulof released the standard PR statement about condemning violence and protecting free speech for all.¹⁸
Those are just words.
Berkeley's actions tell the real story.
The university knew Antifa planned to disrupt this event.
They knew exactly what happened in 2017 when masked agitators set fires, smashed windows, and attacked Trump supporters.
They spent years fighting the free speech lawsuit before settling and supposedly changing their policies.
Yet somehow Monday night looked exactly like February 2017 all over again.
Four students got arrested overnight for felony vandalism after trying to hang anti-Turning Point materials on Sather Gate.¹⁹
Those arrests happened before the event even started, which means Berkeley knew tensions were high and violence was likely.
But according to multiple reports, university police and administrators still allowed Antifa to control access points, block exits, and terrorize attendees leaving the venue.²⁰
That's not inadequate security.
That's willful negligence at best, tacit approval at worst.
Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer connected the dots to President Trump's broader crackdown on Antifa since designating them a domestic terrorist organization.
"It's really been less than two months since Charlie Kirk was murdered and the radical left is at it again," she told Newsmax. "The American people deserve law and order."²¹
Trump deployed the National Guard to Memphis and other high-crime cities specifically because local Democrats refuse to stop political violence.
Now the same federal response is coming to universities that enable leftist mobs.
Berkeley calls itself the birthplace of the Free Speech Movement from the 1960s.
What a joke that's become.
Today's Berkeley actively suppresses conservative speech through violence and intimidation while administrators hide behind carefully worded statements about protecting all viewpoints.
The DOJ investigation will force Berkeley to answer under oath why they allowed Antifa to operate freely, why security was insufficient despite knowing the threat level, and why conservative students continue facing violence on their campus eight years after promising to fix the problem.
Every email, every planning document, every communication between administrators and police is now subject to federal scrutiny.
If Berkeley had nothing to hide, they wouldn't have spent years fighting the 2017 lawsuit before settling.
Dhillon knows their playbook because she beat them once already.
Now she's got the full weight of federal law enforcement behind her investigation into whether Berkeley systematically violates conservative students' civil rights.
That should terrify every university administrator who thinks they can keep enabling leftist violence without consequences.
