Laura Ingraham was stunned at this secret weapon that Donald Trump had

Donald Trump beat Kamala Harris and the entire system behind her.

He had a few tricks up his sleeve on his way to victory.

And Laura Ingraham was stunned at this secret weapon that Donald Trump had.

Donald Trump’s big win powered in part by young voters

Young voters are typically the age group that votes most overwhelmingly for Democrats in a Presidential election.

But this year something different happened.

Former President Donald Trump only lost voters aged 18-29 by a 52% to 46% margin based on exit polling conducted by the Associated Press.

President Joe Biden won this age group by a 61% to 36% margin over Trump in the 2020 election.

The former President made a dramatic gain with this group in four years’ time.

Republican pollster Matt Towery said that Trump had a cool factor with younger voters that a Republican Presidential candidate hadn’t had since Ronald Reagan, during an appearance on the Fox News show The Ingraham Angle.

Fox News host Laura Ingraham pointed out that Trump made major gains with young voters in this election.

“Matt, now the youth vote, you and I were talking about this just a couple of weeks ago. What was key there, Matt?” Ingraham asked.

Younger voters have the lowest rates of turnout of any age group.

Towery credited the work done by Turning Point USA and its founder Charlie Kirk along with the Trump campaign.

“I think the other issue was that I found, if you remember back in 1980, Laura, when Reagan won, that was a year when the youngest of voters somehow found an affinity for Ronald Reagan,” Towery explained. “And it was cool on campuses to be for Ronald Reagan. That’s sort of what happened in this instance.”

There was a change in the perception about the Trump campaign compared to 2016 and 2020.

It became more acceptable to be an out-in-the-open Trump supporter on college campuses to years past without the fear of cancel culture.

Kamala and Biden’s dismal economy drove support to Trump

Towery thought that young voters like most of the country wanted to turn back the clock to the prosperity of the Trump Presidency.

“Young people, the inflation has affected them,” Towery said. “They’re confused because they want to start out life with optimism. They probably don’t feel as pessimistic as the message the Democrats delivered. And they decided they wanted to go back to the way things were when they were in high school or whatever, when Trump was President. So they voted for him.”

Ingraham pointed out that Trump used, in the closing weeks of the campaign, the fact that Kamala wanted to take the country to war with Russia.

“If this keeps going the way they’re going, we’re going to be at war with Russia. I thought that was really smart,” Ingraham said.

“I think young people are attracted to candidates who give them an idea that their life will be tranquil, it will be peaceful, and there’ll be an opportunity for them to move forward and build the careers they want,” Towery stated. “And I think the war message resonated as well.”

Donald Trump made gains with the demographics Republicans usually struggle with on his way to the best performance by a GOP Presidential candidate since the 1980s.
