Joe Biden left America with the worst border crisis in history.
Millions of illegal aliens poured into the country under his watch.
And Kristi Noem unveiled shocking border numbers that expose Biden’s immigration failure.
Border security numbers reveal a dramatic turnaround
For four years, the Biden administration oversaw unprecedented numbers of illegal aliens crossing America’s southern border.
The previous administration recorded a staggering 11 million border encounters during their term, with monthly averages reaching nearly 160,000 and daily crossings peaking at 15,000.
But that all changed when Donald Trump took office in January with a promise to deliver the most secure border in American history.
Within 100 days, the Department of Homeland Security has released statistics showing a dramatic change in border security under Secretary Noem’s leadership.
March of 2025 saw the lowest monthly number of border encounters in recorded history, at less than 7,200 total crossings.
That represents a stunning 95% reduction from the Biden-era peak.
Even more remarkably, the lowest daily number of border encounters fell to less than 200 in February – a 99% decrease from the 15,000 daily crossings seen under the previous administration.
Trump’s strategy delivers unprecedented results
The current border statistics don’t just represent a reversal of Biden’s policies – they show unprecedented levels of border security that surpass even Trump’s first administration.
According to DHS data, U.S. Customs and Border Protection now has total control of the border, with daily encounters down by 93% since January.
The number of “gotaways” – individuals who evade initial capture and represent the highest public safety threat – are down by a remarkable 95%.
This turnaround follows President Trump’s day one actions, including reinstatement of the Remain in Mexico policy, shutting down the controversial CBP One app that had “paroled” over one million illegal aliens into the country, and signing the Laken Riley Act into law.
Operation Tidal Wave changes enforcement landscape
One of the most significant border security initiatives launched by the Trump-Noem DHS is Operation Tidal Wave, a first-of-its-kind, multi-agency immigration enforcement operation under the 287(g) program.
The operation coordinates ICE with state and federal partners to remove criminal aliens from American communities.
In less than 100 days, the Trump Administration has achieved a 317% increase in federal/state partner agreements compared to the previous administration.
This multi-day operation has resulted in 780 illegal aliens apprehended in just four days, according to DHS statistics.
Those arrested include members of MS-13, murderers, rapists, drug traffickers, and human rights abusers who entered the country during the previous administration.
The fentanyl crisis begins to turn
For American families who have suffered from the devastating impact of fentanyl trafficking, the DHS report indicates that fentanyl seizures at the southern border fell by 54% in March compared to the same month in 2024.
This reduction follows President Trump’s diplomatic efforts with Mexico, which have resulted in unprecedented cooperation from our southern neighbor.
Following these negotiations, Mexico cracked down on drug traffickers and seized 1,500 kilograms of fentanyl – the largest seizure in Mexico’s history – and has arrested over 6,000 drug traffickers.
Under the Biden administration, nearly 64,000 pounds of fentanyl was seized at the southern border – enough to kill 14 billion people – yet countless more made it through due to the overwhelmed state of border personnel.
A stark contrast in deportation numbers
While the Biden administration made just 113,000 administrative arrests in the entirety of Fiscal Year 2024, the Trump administration has already arrested over 151,000 illegal aliens and deported over 135,000 in just 100 days.
This includes 600 members of Tren De Aragua who have been arrested or deported, as well as thousands of MS-13 and 18th Street Gang members who have fled the country.
The Department of Homeland Security credits the Trump administration’s designation of Tren de Aragua, MS-13, and major Mexican drug cartels as Foreign Terrorist Organizations with providing law enforcement with powerful new tools to combat these violent criminal enterprises.
For American communities that have been devastated by the influx of criminal aliens, dangerous drugs, and the overwhelming strain on social services, the dramatic turnaround offers hope that the nation’s immigration system can be brought back under control.
The first 100 days of the Trump-Noem border strategy demonstrate what’s possible when an administration enforces existing immigration laws and makes border security a genuine priority.
