Three Key Takeaways:

  • Kate Middleton has been described as managing Prince William like one of their children, as he sometimes displays tantrums and irritations when things aren’t done his way.
  • Kate’s ability to handle William’s demanding behavior has earned her praise among palace staff, who prefer her more grounded and less demanding nature compared to other royals.
  • Despite William’s past emotional struggles and spoiled upbringing, Kate has played a crucial role in supporting him and preparing the couple for their future roles as King and Queen.

Kate Middleton has a lot to juggle as the future Queen of England.

She got one responsibility that she was dreading.

And Kate Middleton found herself in one bad situation with Prince William she never expected.

Kate Middleton treats Prince William like he’s the couple’s fourth child

Kate Middleton has to manage her husband, Prince William, like one of the couple’s children, according to a new book.

Royal author Tom Quinn got the inside scoop on the British Royal Family after he interviewed more than 100 current and former palace staffers for his book, Yes Ma’am: The Secret Life of Royal Servants.

Staff told him that Kate treats her husband “like her fourth child.”

William is demanding about the way that he wants things done.

“Occasionally, William has little tantrums and irritations if things aren’t done the way he wants them done [as heir to the British throne],” Quinn told Fox News.

“But Kate is very good at managing that in the same way that she manages the tantrums of their three children – Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. And so, there’s a joke among the staff that Kate treats William as the fourth because he occasionally behaves like one,” Quinn added.

Kate became popular with the staff because she didn’t grow up in the Royal Family and was less demanding.

They preferred working with her over King Charles III and William.

Kate Middleton plays an important role in the Royal Family

A staffer told Quinn that Kate helps William manage his daily life.

“I don’t know where William would be without Kate – she hasn’t had everything done for her throughout her life, so she calms him down when he gets a bit fractious. She says he sometimes has to be treated as her fourth child!” the staffer claimed.

The King and William have a particular way that they like things done.

“Suits must be pressed and laid out after a period of consultation the night before; shoes must be polished, ties chosen,” a staffer told Quinn about caring for Charles and William. “Baths must be run at precisely the same time each day and both King Charles and the Prince of Wales, Prince William, are prone to tantrums if things are not done to their liking.”

Charles and William have grown up having everything done for them, which makes them “very picky.”

“’They both get irritated very quickly,’” a former palace staffer claimed. “People who have everything done for them from childhood tend to be rather spoiled and prone to bouts of irritation because they have no idea how much work is involved in washing and ironing, polishing and sewing when they have never done any of it themselves.”

Kate reportedly doesn’t get bothered by her husband’s behavior.

“In many ways, William has had an emotionally damaging childhood,” Quinn said. “I don’t just mean because his mother, Princess Diana, died when he was 15, which is enormous in itself. Everyone could understand that that was very damaging to him.”

Charles and the late Princess Di divorced before her tragic death.

“But before that, the split between his parents was very public. All the unpleasantness between his parents was played out on the world stage. Meanwhile, he was looked after by paid staff,” Quinn added.

That made William needy, according to Quinn.

Kate Middleton helped him manage his outbursts and prepare the couple to eventually become King and Queen.
