Jack Smith ran one of the most aggressive political witch hunts in American history.
Now he could be in big trouble.
And Kash Patel finally stepped up and exposed Jack Smith's dirty $20,000 secret that has Trump demanding prison.
Kash Patel Exposes Jack Smith's $20,000 FBI Informant Payment
FBI Director Kash Patel dropped a bombshell that has the entire conservative movement calling for accountability.
Newly released FBI documents show Jack Smith's office approved a covert $20,000 payment to a confidential informant in June 2023 as part of the Arctic Frost investigation targeting President Trump and his allies over challenges to the 2020 election.
The records Patel turned over to Congress include internal emails showing the chain of approval for buying dirt on Trump.
An FBI agent wrote to Smith's office on June 2, 2023 requesting approval for the payment.
"As discussed, request your office's concurrence in our proposed payment of $20,000 for CHS' provision of information in support of the investigation," the email read.
Counselor to the Special Counsel Raymond Hulser gave his blessing the same day.
The memo states the payment "was discussed by Raymond Hulser and Assistant Special Counsel Julia Gegenheimer with Special Counsel Jack Smith."
Smith personally signed off on paying someone to rat out Trump and his team.
Patel called it exactly what it was on social media.
"Jack Smith's team approved a $20,000 payment to an informant to target President Trump and his allies in Arctic Frost," Patel wrote. "That's not law enforcement, it's weaponization."
FBI Weaponization Pattern: Crossfire Hurricane to Arctic Frost Investigation
Paying informants is nothing new for the FBI when it comes to going after Trump.
During Crossfire Hurricane, the FBI paid Stefan Halper more than $1 million over three decades despite providing inaccurate information about Trump campaign figures.
The bureau also shelled out hundreds of thousands of dollars to Igor Danchenko, Christopher Steele's main source for the fake Russia dossier, even after he admitted he confirmed zero claims and his information was just gossip from Moscow bars.
The FBI originally offered to pay Steele $1 million to confirm his dossier but he couldn't verify a single allegation.
Special Counsel John Durham's investigation concluded the FBI had no actual evidence of collusion when it opened Crossfire Hurricane but kept paying informants to build a case anyway.
Arctic Frost was even more aggressive than Crossfire Hurricane.
The investigation grabbed phone and email records from nearly 150 Trump allies including members of Congress, lawyers, and outside advisers like Steve Bannon.
Smith's team obtained phone records for eight U.S. Senators and one Congressman without their knowledge.
Senators Lindsey Graham and Marsha Blackburn have vowed to sue the DOJ for piercing congressional privilege and violating separation of powers.
The FBI analyzed phone data not just on Trump's Congressional allies but also on his personal lawyers Sidney Powell, Jenna Ellis, Cleta Mitchell, and the late Bernie Kerik.
FBI supervisors tried multiple times to make Trump himself a "subject" of the probe but that idea was rejected.
Trump Calls for Jack Smith Prison After FBI Abuse of Power Revealed
President Trump wasted no time responding to the revelation about Smith paying a snitch.
"Deranged Jack Smith should be sitting in prison for all that he has done to disgrace our Country!" Trump posted on Truth Social Saturday morning.
The President has every right to be furious after what Smith put him and his family through.
Smith indicted Trump twice, once for efforts to contest the 2020 election and once for allegedly mishandling classified documents at Mar-a-Lago.
Both cases were politically motivated attempts to destroy Trump before the 2024 election.
Smith dropped all charges after Trump's landslide victory made it clear the American people rejected the witch hunt.
But the damage was already done and millions of taxpayer dollars were wasted on Smith's fishing expedition.
Trump previously called Smith "deranged" and "a real sleazebag" who weaponized the justice system for political purposes.
The former Special Counsel testified before Congress in December claiming he had proof beyond a reasonable doubt to convict Trump.
If that were true, why did he drop all the charges instead of presenting his supposed evidence in court?
Smith resigned in January 2025 before Trump's inauguration knowing the new President would have fired his entire team anyway.
Conservatives have been demanding accountability for Smith's abuses for years.
Now Patel is perhaps finally starting to realize he actually has to do something at the FBI other than running cover on botched Epstein files release and the Charlie Kirk investigation.
With the release documents showing the scope of Jack Smith’s political targeting, a day of reckoning may finally be coming.
