FBI Director Kash Patel sat down with Fox News host Bret Baier on Special Report to discuss the ongoing investigation into what really happened on January 6, 2021.
Patel has been working overtime to restore transparency to the FBI after years of stonewalling and cover-ups.
The American people have had serious questions about the FBI’s role on January 6th for nearly four years.
Now they’re finally going to get answers.
“People have had questions about January 6th, and whether or not there were FBI sources, not agents, sources, on the ground during January 6th,” Patel told Baier. “And I told you I would get you the definitive answer to that, and we have.”
Patel revealed that the FBI is working with Congress to release this explosive information to the public.
But he dropped a major hint about what Americans are about to learn.
“I will tell you this, the answer to that question will surprise and shock people because of what past FBI leaders have said about it,” Patel stated.
That’s quite a statement from the current FBI Director.
It suggests that previous FBI leadership wasn’t being completely honest with Congress and the American people about what really happened.
DOJ Inspector General report revealed 26 FBI sources were at the Capitol
Baier pressed Patel about the recent DOJ Inspector General report that revealed the extent of FBI sources on January 6th.
“Former FBI Director Chris Wray eventually admitted to Congress there were 26 FBI confidential human sources in and around the Capitol on January 6th, but not actual agents,” Baier said, referencing the December 2024 Inspector General report findings.
Patel confirmed that the Inspector General’s findings were accurate but suggested there’s much more to the story.
“I can say that that is definitely a piece of the truth,” Patel replied. “Why it took a ton of time and questioning in Congress for the Director to get that point is what I’m trying to eliminate from the FBI.”
The key phrase there is “a piece of the truth.”
That indicates there are more revelations coming that will paint a fuller picture of what really happened.
Patel criticized Wray for being evasive when questioned by Congress about FBI sources on January 6th.
“If Congress asks you a question under oath, whether or not there were sources in and around January 6th at the Capitol, you as the Director of the FBI need to know that, and not deflect and give a DC answer,” Patel explained.
The new FBI Director made it clear that the days of stonewalling Congress are over.

Beyond January 6th, Patel also dropped another bombshell about the Trump-Russia investigation known as Crossfire Hurricane.
The FBI Director revealed that investigators have uncovered documents that even he didn’t know existed.
“We have found material, and I’m the Crossfire Hurricane guy, that I didn’t even know existed in FBI holdings,” Patel told Baier.
When Baier asked where these documents were found, Patel’s answer was revealing.
“That’s been stashed away in locations that people thought we wouldn’t find it because we wouldn’t know to look for it there,” Patel stated.
Someone was clearly trying to hide evidence from the American people.
Patel promised that these documents are now flowing to Congress on a rolling basis as part of constitutional oversight.
The American people deserve to know the full truth about how the FBI was weaponized against Donald Trump.
Patel was right about January 6 all along
Patel reminded viewers that he was Chief of Staff at the Department of Defense on January 6th.
He witnessed firsthand what really happened behind the scenes.
“We said that we were ready, and the President had previously authorized the National Guard to be there days in advance,” Patel revealed.
But Washington, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser and then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi rejected the offer for additional security.
“Instead of figuring out how to prevent security lapses like that ever again, the American public spent tens of millions of dollars and countless hours on TV listening to conspiracy theories because those in positions of leadership failed to tell the American public the truth,” Patel said.
For years, Democrats and their media allies pushed the narrative that Trump was responsible for the security failures on January 6th.
Now the truth is finally coming out.
Trump had authorized the National Guard in advance, but Democrat leaders rejected the help.
Patel spent two years and a small fortune defending himself in front of grand juries to tell the truth.
Now he’s in a position to make sure the American people get the full story.
The FBI Director promised that everyone will eventually know the complete picture of what happened on January 6th.
“The American people deserve that,” Patel concluded.
After years of lies and cover-ups, Americans are finally going to learn what really happened on January 6th.
And Democrats aren’t going to like what they hear.
