Kash Patel has hit the ground running as the FBI director.
He’s already putting points on the board.
And Kash Patel announced one arrest that let Donald Trump know he meant business.
FBI announces gang leader on 10 Most Wanted List is arrested
The change in leadership at the FBI under President Donald Trump is already paying dividends.
FBI director Kash Patel announced that a “top leader” in the Salvadoran gang MS-13 had been arrested in Mexico and was being extradited to the United States to face justice.
“The FBI has extradited one of our ‘Ten Most Wanted’ from Mexico — one we believe to be a key senior leader of MS-13, Francisco Javier Roman-Bardales,” Patel wrote on X. “He was arrested in Mexico and is being transported within the U.S. as we speak, where he will face American justice.”
“This is a major victory both for our law enforcement partners and for a safer America. Thank you to our brave personnel for executing the mission,” Patel added.
Mexican authorities arrested Roman-Bardales in Veracruz after years on the run.
Patel praised the work of Mexican law enforcement in making the bust and for their cooperation.
A warrant was issued for his arrest in federal court in the Eastern District of New York for his involvement in drug trafficking, extortion, racketeering, smuggling illegal aliens, and numerous acts of violence.
MS-13 is one of the illegal alien gangs that Trump designated as a foreign terrorist organization.
The gang was founded in Los Angeles by immigrants and illegal aliens who fled El Salvador’s civil war in the 1980s.
“MS-13 actively recruits, organizes, and spreads violence in several countries, primarily in Central America and North America, including El Salvador, Honduras, Guatemala, Mexico, and the United States,” the State Department said. “MS-13 has conducted numerous violent attacks, including assassination and the use of IEDs and drones, against El Salvador government officials and facilities.”
Two other top leaders in MS-13 were deported by Trump back to El Salvador for imprisonment under the Alien Enemies Act of 1798.
Trump’s FBI is already delivering results
Roman-Bardales became the third person on the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted list arrested since Trump took office in January.
Patel praised the work of the Trump administration for making that happen.
“That’s not an accident,” Patel wrote on X. “When you let good cops be good cops, this is what happens. This administration is giving the new FBI and AG Bondi the resources to get the job done — and we won’t stop.”
The FBI and @TheJusticeDept @AGPamBondi have captured our third fugitive on the Ten Most Wanted list since January 20, 2025.

Patel was tapped to be the FBI director to end the weaponization of the bureau and return its mission to fighting crime.
Only one person on the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted list was captured under former President Joe Biden in four years.
The investigation into January 6 became the biggest in FBI history.
FBI agents were more concerned with tracking down peaceful Trump-supporting grandmas on bogus charges of parading than catching the bad guys.
Patel has the FBI back in the business of taking violent criminals off the streets.
