Karoline Leavitt revealed one secret about the media they would never admit in public

Feb 25, 2025

Donald Trump and the media have been at war since he entered politics.

Journalists have a newfound appreciation for the President in his second term.

And Karoline Leavitt revealed one secret about the media they would never admit in public.

The media appreciates a President who will answer their questions

President Donald Trump has become famous for sparring with the media since he began his political career in 2015.

The legacy media viciously attacked Trump throughout the 2024 Election and at the start of his second term.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said that the legacy media won’t admit it publicly, but journalists are thrilled to have a President who will answer their questions.

Former President Joe Biden spent four years avoiding the press like the plague to avoid committing an embarrassing gaffe.

Leavitt argued the Trump administration was a breath of fresh air for reporters during an appearance on The Megyn Kelly Show

“You must have really wrestled with how you were going to meet the high bar set by Karine Jean-Pierre,” former Fox News host Megyn Kelly joked. “Sorry, sorry. Was that out loud? No, she was terrible. I mean, come on. So, how has your approach differed, would you say?”

Leavitt said the Trump administration’s approach to the media was a big change from what journalists saw under Biden.

“I think it’s vastly different,” Leavitt replied. “If you ask people, even in the legacy media, even the Trump haters, they will tell you the approach has been much different. Not just for me, but the entire White House.”

The media was frustrated by the lack of access under Joe Biden

Leavitt said that while journalists wouldn’t publicly say they appreciated the transparency from the Trump administration, they would sing a different tune behind closed doors.

“They come in my office every day, and they’ll admit that off the record,” Leavitt explained. “Maybe not on the record, but they will say they appreciate the access and the transparency and the preparation that goes into my briefings and everybody on our team, by the way, who goes out to the cameras and speaks.”

“We have great policy experts who are great spokespeople for the President, and they appreciate the information that they’re being given,” Leavitt added.

Kelly asked Leavitt if she had a “least favorite” journalist she dealt with so far as Press Secretary.

Leavitt pointed to a back-and-forth she had with NBC News reporter Peter Alexander.

Alexander tried to downplay the amount of waste and fraud found by the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) at the Social Security Administration.

The White House Press Secretary asked him if he was defending fraudulent spending.

“It perplexes me and also infuriates me why the media continues to make excuses for our government spending billions and billions of dollars in wasteful money,” Leavitt said. “Maybe they don’t mind, but I know there’s millions of people watching that do mind. So we’re going to keep doing what we’re doing with DOGE.”

Former White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre stumbled her way through press briefings while Biden hid from journalists.

There’s a sea change in how the Trump administration handles the press.
