2024 continues to play out as an election that defies expectations at every turn.
The Left spent the last eight years demonizing Donald Trump as a racist, a Russian spy, a rapist, a criminal, and an insurrectionist.
Yet that smear campaign is now faltering as the Presidential race hits the home stretch.
CNN data analyst Harry Enten put in numerical terms the uphill battle Kamala Harris is now facing.
Enten began by noting that while Kamala Harris is currently more popular than Donald Trump, both Joe Biden and Hillary Clinton were as well, so having a higher favorable rating than Trump doesn’t guarantee victory.
“Joe Biden was more popular than Trump, much more, and he barely won, and Hillary Clinton was more popular than Donald Trump and lost. Being more popular than Trump isn’t enough,” Enten told viewers.
Enten then dove into one of the more shocking developments of the 2024 election.
Despite eight years of lies, hoaxes, witch hunts, two impeachments, and four criminal indictments, Donald Trump is more popular today than he was in 2016 when he won the election.
“If you believe he has somehow become less popular over time, let me change your mind about that. In fact, he is more popular at this point in the campaign than he was at this point in the 2020 campaign or the 2016 campaign,” Enten added.
Enten compared Trump’s number to Kamala Harris, describing Kamala’s “momentum,” as “stalled out.”
Kamala Harris hits a rut
No candidate ever wants to be called “stalled.”
But with less than two weeks to go until Election Day, that’s exactly the word to describe Kamala Harris’ campaign.
Enten said that when Kamala Harris first jumped into the race, she saw a surge in popularity as Democrats were thrilled to have Joe Biden out of the race and someone else who they thought had a chance to win as the candidate.
“Kamala Harris is more popular than Donald Trump, but Kamala Harris had her popularity rising once she became the presumptive Democratic nominee,” Enten continued.
But now Kamala Harris is facing a different question.
Democrats threw the kitchen sink at Trump the last eight years and his approval numbers went up.
Enten explained that Democrats now have to go back to the drawing board to try and come up with new lines of attack on Trump.
“I think there’s this real question in. Kamala Harris’s mind, in the campaign’s mind: why is Trump more popular now than he was at this point in 2020 and 2016?” Enten remarked.
“And I think that is why you’re seeing the sharpening of attacks because they want to put him back down to here,” Enten concluded.
The evidence of Kamala Harris’ campaign stalling out as Donald Trump’s popularity grows is right there in the polling data.
Four of the last five national polls show Trump in the lead, a position he never held in 2016 or 2020.
These numbers are why the Kamala Harris campaign took Enten’s advice and launched an eleventh-hour messaging shift to baselessly claim that Trump is “exhausted” and “unhinged.”
