Americans were horrified by the news that an American Airlines jet had collided with a military Black Hawk helicopter in Washington, D.C., and there were no survivors.
Donald Trump blasted the FAA’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion programs and promised to “find out how this disaster occurred.”
But Kaitlan Collins got humiliated on live TV when Donald Trump torched her for asking a bogus question about the tragic plane crash.
Donald Trump went to work cleaning up Joe Biden’s mess the moment he took the Oath of Office, and he has continued moving at “break-neck” speed.
Trump issued a flurry of executive orders on Day One that reversed many of Joe Biden’s disastrous and failed policies.
One of Donald Trump’s executive orders directed the incoming Transportation Secretary and head of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to bring back “merit-based hiring” and end all DEI initiatives.
Joe Biden required federal agencies to hire people based on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI).
DEI initiatives base hiring on race, gender, and sexuality instead of merit.
On Thursday, Donald Trump held a press conference at the White House where he updated Americans on the tragic plane crash.
Trump began by honoring the victims and their families with a moment of silence.
“Just before 9:00 PM last night, an American Airlines regional jet carrying 60 passengers and four crew collided with an army Blackhawk helicopter carrying three military service members over the Potomac River in Washington, DC while on final approach to Reagan National Airport,” Trump said.
“Both aircraft crashed instantly and were immediately submerged into the icy waters of the Potomac,” he continued, before adding, “Real tragedy.”
After offering condolences to the family members of the deceased, Trump vowed to get to the bottom and find out exactly what led to the crash.
“We do not know what led to this crash, but we have some very strong opinions and ideas, and I think we’ll probably state those opinions now because over the years I’ve watched as things like this happen and they say, ‘Well, we’re always investigating,’” he said.
Even though the investigation is ongoing, it appears that it could have been the lowering of standards for DEI that caused the crash.
“We must have only the highest standards for those who work in our aviation system,” Trump said. “I changed the Obama standards from very mediocre at best to extraordinary.”
Trump ripped Biden and Obama because they “put policy first and they put politics at a level that nobody’s ever seen because this was the lowest level.”
He then revealed how the FAA prioritized DEI hiring over merit-based hiring.
“The FAA is actively recruiting workers who suffer severe intellectual disabilities, psychiatric problems, and other mental and physical conditions under a diversity and inclusion hiring initiative spelled out on the agency’s website,” Trump said. “The initiative is part of the FAA’s Diversity and inclusion hiring plan.”
Of course, Trump suggesting that DEI policies caused the crash sent the left-wing press into a frenzy.
CNN host Kaitlan Collins took issue with Trump for “blaming Democrats and DEI policies and air traffic control and seemingly the member of the U.S. military who was flying that Black Hawk helicopter.”
“Don’t you think you’re getting ahead of the investigation right now?” she asked President Trump.
Donald Trump responded with a resounding “no.”
“No, I don’t think so at all,” Trump said.
“I don’t think, with the names of the people, you mean the names of the people that are on the plane?” Trump continued. “You think that’s going to make a difference?”
“They are a group of people that have lost their lives,” Trump told Collins. “If you want a list of the names, we can give you that, we will be giving that very soon.”
But then Trump humiliated Collins for asking “not a very smart question.”
“I think that’s not a very smart question, I’m surprised, coming from you,” Trump said.
