And Jon Stewart begged Chuck Schumer not to do one thing.
Jon Stewart says Democrats need a new face of the resistance to Donald Trump
The Democrat Party is completely adrift in the early weeks of the Trump administration.
Democrats can’t settle on a message of opposition to Trump, nor can they settle on a messenger.
While there is no consensus on who should lead the resistance to Trump, Daily Show host Jon Stewart knows who it shouldn’t be.

Stewart was less than pleased with Chuck Schumer’s attempt to rally opposition to Donald Trump’s proposed tariffs on Canada and Mexico.
“Democrats, can you please stop f***ing trotting Schumer out there every time Trump traverses into the unreal?” Stewart explained. “He’s not good at this.”
Stewart then played a clip of Schumer arguing that Trump’s tariffs would harm consumers by making avocados more expensive.
“It’s going to affect beer, most of it — Corona here — comes from Mexico. It’s going to affect your guac. Because what is guacamole made of? Avocados,” Schumer stated.
Stewart couldn’t believe that the best argument Schumer could come up with against tariffs was the price of avocados.
“Your response to the trade war is to f***ing tell us guacamole is made of avocados?” Stewart wondered.
Stewart then wanted to know how Democrats decided to put Schumer front and center.
“What is the decision-making process here?” Stewart wondered.
Stewart then mimicked the internal conversation among Democrats about how they picked Schumer to be front and center in the tariff fight.
Notably, Stewart also gave Donald Trump credit for his ability as a showman to create compelling media spectacles that put the Democrat Party on defense.
“Hey, who should we get out there to effectively battle one of the most savvy presidential media manipulators in history? How about Schumer? He’s uninteresting, but at least he’s monotone,” Stewart added.
Stewart also ridiculed the fact that Democrats picked another old man – Schumer is 74 – to rally the opposition against Trump.
“And Chuck, before you go out there, you look too young. Put on these readers and lower them on your nose,” Stewart stated.
Stewart wrapped up by saying the idea of Chuck Schumer leading the charge against Trump left him depressed and ready to switch sides.
“Honestly, listening to Chuck Schumer speak on almost any topic,” Stewart lamented, adding that listening to Schumer “makes me want to bomb Canada.”
Many of the complaints Stewart leveled about Schumer’s leadership were on display the following day when Schumer organized a rally in defense of foreign aid.
Schumer stood next to Democrat Congressman Al Green – who was holding a cane – and led his fellow leftists in an awkward chant of defiance against Trump.

There are two big stories in Washington, D.C. right now.
One is the speed and effectiveness with which Donald Trump is enacting his agenda.
And the second is the currently feeble state of the Democrat Party opposition to President Trump.
