Book bans conjure up ugly images of fascist regimes in 1930s Europe.
Yet that’s the model Joe Biden followed upon taking office.
Jim Jordan revealed how Joe Biden banned these books in America.
House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan broke bombshell news with the release of the “Amazon Files.”
Jordan posted emails from March 2021, showing the White House successfully pushing Amazon to censor books that debunked the narratives about COVID that Joe Biden found politically useful.
In one March 2, 2021, email former White House COVID advisor Andy Slavitt demanded to speak with someone at Amazon about censoring so-called “misinformation” by restricting the sale of books about the coronavirus.
An insidious request
“Who can we talk to about the high levels of propaganda and misinformation and disinformation of [sic] Amazon?” Slavitt wrote.
Slavitt wanted a broad category ban.
“If you search for ‘vaccines’ under books, I see what comes up,” Slavitt added. “I haven’t looked beyond that but if that’s what’s on the surface, it’s concerning.”
The real misinformation about COVID came from so-called “experts” like Dr. Fauci, who advocated for lockdowns, later admitting that the six-foot social distancing rule was just made up out of thin air and not based on any actual science, as well as the Biden administration, which falsely claimed that COVID vaccines would stop infection or transmission.
Initially, Amazon resisted the Biden administration’s book ban pressure campaign by highlighting the high probability it would turn into a PR fiasco for the Big Tech giant.
“We will not be doing a manual intervention today,” the Amazon executive wrote. “The team/PR feels very strongly that it is too visible, and will further compound the Harry/Sally narrative (which is getting the Fox News treatment today apparently), and won’t fix the problem long-term … because of customer behavior associates.”
But the executive did admit the company was working on a tool that would allow it to censor books the Biden administration found politically inconvenient.
“The [White House] will probably ask why we don’t tag the content like [Facebook]/Twitter do if we aren’t taking it down,” the official added. “That is an option being explored but that we don’t want to disclose to avoid boxing in.”
But one week later, Amazon caved in and agreed to the Biden administration’s censorship regime.
“As a reminder, we did enable Do Not Promote for anti-vax books whose primary purpose is to persuade readers vaccines are unsafe or ineffective on 3/9, and will review additional handling options for these books,” one Amazon executive wrote to another.
Democrats don’t believe in free speech or open debate.
The evolution of the modern Left took the Democrat Party to a place where its base and elected officials now believe Americans should only be allowed access to information that conforms to the Left’s political project.
