Sanctuary governors are about to face the music.
And they’re not going to like what they hear.
James Comer just dropped a bombshell that has sanctuary governors from blue states panicking.
House Oversight Committee Chairman puts sanctuary state governors on notice
House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform Chairman James Comer (R-KY.) announced that the governors of Illinois, Minnesota, and New York will be forced to testify on June 12, 2025, at a congressional hearing about their states’ sanctuary policies.
These policies have been shielding criminal illegal aliens from federal immigration enforcement, directly undermining President Trump’s border security efforts.
Chairman Comer didn’t mince words when announcing the hearing.
“Sanctuary policies only provide sanctuaries for criminal illegal aliens,” Comer declared. “Former President Biden created the worst border crisis in U.S. history and allowed criminal illegal aliens to flood our communities.”
Comer highlighted the stark contrast between the previous administration and President Trump’s successful approach to border security.
“President Trump has ended this crisis and now we have the most secure borders in decades. The Trump Administration is taking decisive action to deport criminal illegal aliens from our nation but reckless sanctuary states like Illinois, Minnesota, and New York are actively seeking to obstruct federal immigration enforcement,” he said.
The Kentucky congressman made it clear what’s at stake in this showdown.
“The governors of these states must explain why they are prioritizing the protection of criminal illegal aliens over the safety of U.S. citizens, and they must be held accountable,” Comer stated.
Governors Pritzker, Walz, and Hochul in the hot seat
This hearing will force Democrat Governors JB Pritzker of Illinois, Tim Walz of Minnesota, and Kathy Hochul of New York to answer tough questions about their controversial policies.
These blue state leaders have implemented policies that limit cooperation with federal immigration authorities, essentially creating safe havens for illegal aliens who have committed crimes on American soil.
The upcoming June testimony is part of a broader investigation that Chairman Comer launched in January 2025 into the policies of sanctuary jurisdictions and their impact on public safety and federal immigration enforcement.
Sanctuary jurisdictions are defined as “states, counties or cities that put some limits on how much they are willing to cooperate with federal agencies’ efforts to deport” illegal aliens.
A pattern of obstruction from Democrat-run cities and states
This isn’t the first time Chairman Comer has brought sanctuary politicians to the hot seat.
In March, the Oversight Committee held a hearing with four sanctuary mayors: Boston Mayor Michelle Wu, Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson, Denver Mayor Mike Johnston, and New York City Mayor Eric Adams.
That hearing revealed disturbing details about how these Democrat-run cities have actively worked to undermine federal immigration law.
Now, Comer is taking the fight to the state level.
In April, Chairman Comer expanded the Committee’s investigation by demanding that Illinois Governor JB Pritzker, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, and New York Governor Kathy Hochul provide documents and communications related to their states’ sanctuary policies.
The June 12 hearing will be the culmination of months of investigation into how these Democrat governors have deliberately obstructed President Trump’s efforts to remove dangerous criminal illegal aliens from American communities.
While President Trump has worked tirelessly to protect American citizens by securing the border and deporting criminal illegal aliens, these Democrat governors have chosen to prioritize illegal aliens over the safety of their own citizens.
The showdown between Chairman Comer and these sanctuary governors will expose who really stands with American citizens and who stands with criminal illegal aliens.
