Hunter Biden’s legal troubles finally caught up with him.
But the former First Son’s reaction revealed something even more disturbing.
And Hunter Biden made one maddening comparison about himself in a new book revelation that left jaws on the floor.
New book exposes Hunter’s stunning lack of self-awareness
Hunter Biden privately compared his own legal and public struggles to the grief endured by families whose children were murdered at Sandy Hook Elementary School, according to explosive revelations in a new book.¹
The stunning comparison surfaced in Devils’ Advocates: The Hidden Story of Rudy Giuliani, Hunter Biden, and the Washington Insiders on the Payrolls of Corrupt Foreign Interests by New York Times investigative reporter Ken Vogel.²
The Daily Mail obtained an advance copy revealing one of the most disturbing details yet about Hunter’s state of mind.³
Vogel writes that the comparison emerged shortly after Hunter’s defiant December 2023 press conference on the Capitol steps, where he refused to comply with a congressional subpoena for closed-door testimony.⁴
"The comparison was meant to highlight the right-wing conspiracies that swirled around him and the families, who have been harassed for years by conspiracists claiming that the shooting was staged to create a pretext for gun restrictions," Vogel wrote.⁵
A source who overheard the remark told Vogel the statement reflected Hunter’s frustration over his ongoing legal battles.⁶ Those included unpaid taxes from foreign clients in Ukraine, Romania, and China, plus federal gun charges related to his drug use.⁷
"Hunter endured some tough times, to be sure, but the comparison seemed to demonstrate an extreme lack of self-awareness and empathy," Vogel wrote in the book.⁸
The Sandy Hook connection runs deeper than anyone knew
The Sandy Hook comparison reveals something far more disturbing when you consider Hunter’s history with the tragedy.
Congressional documents released in 2024 exposed that Hunter used his father’s December 2017 attendance at a Sandy Hook memorial service to arrange a secret meeting with Chinese business partners.⁹
On December 12, 2017, Hunter messaged CEFC executive Liu Yadong on the Chinese app WeChat to coordinate the meeting.¹⁰
"Can you meet this evening early," Hunter wrote. "My father will be in New York also and he wants me to attend the Sandyhook memorial service with him and I would like him to meet you along with my uncle [Jim Biden] and then you and I can talk let me know if that works."¹¹
The scheme involved an extensively negotiated deal where CEFC — directly connected to the Chinese Communist Party — agreed to pay the Biden family $10 million per year for influence.¹²
So Hunter didn’t just compare himself to Sandy Hook victims – he actually exploited a memorial service for murdered children to seal corrupt foreign business deals.
When that deal didn’t materialize as planned, Hunter sent threatening texts to CEFC officials in July 2017, using his father’s political position as leverage.¹³
"I am sitting here with my father and we would like to understand why the commitment made has not been fulfilled," Hunter wrote.¹⁴
Biden family pattern of exploiting tragedy finally exposed
The book also explores Hunter’s long pattern of influence-related work and the Biden family’s tolerance for it.¹⁵
When Joe Biden was under consideration as Barack Obama’s 2008 running mate, campaign advisers insisted Hunter end his lobbying activities.¹⁶ Joe agreed to the arrangement.
"Hunter told people he resented being told to drop his clients," Vogel wrote. "And Joe Biden didn’t much care for what he interpreted as the holier-than-thou posture of the Obama folks."¹⁷
Vogel added a line that captures the Biden family’s entire philosophy: "In the Biden family, there was nothing inherently wrong with trying to make a buck in the government-industrial complex."¹⁸
That mindset led Hunter to accept a board position with Burisma Holdings in 2014.¹⁹ Despite having zero energy-sector experience, the Ukrainian company owned by oligarch Mykola Zlochevsky paid Hunter $1 million per year.²⁰
Hunter defended the arrangement in emails, writing that it was "very frustrating" to have to answer questions "simply because some reporter wants to somehow draw a link between my father and the president and my role at Burisma."²¹
Vogel noted that Hunter’s involvement with both Burisma and Chinese conglomerate CEFC China Energy demonstrated "many of the earmarks of a Chinese government influence operation."²²
The book describes Hunter’s attempts to broker other corrupt deals, including a real estate project involving convicted Romanian oligarch Gabriel Popoviciu near the U.S. Embassy in Bucharest — ironically, where Beau Biden had once spoken about fighting corruption.²³
Joe Biden’s pardon erased consequences for Hunter’s delusions
President Joe Biden pardoned Hunter on December 1, 2024, in one of his final acts before leaving office.²⁴
The pardon covered any crimes Hunter "may have committed or taken part in" dating back to January 1, 2014 — the same year he joined Burisma’s board.²⁵
That sweeping pardon means Hunter faces zero legal consequences for comparing his self-inflicted legal troubles to parents burying their murdered children.
The man who leveraged a memorial service for business deals now compares himself to the victims’ families while his father shields him from accountability.
Some Democrats criticized the pardon as setting a terrible precedent.²⁶ Senator Gary Peters called it "wrong," stating that "a president’s family and allies shouldn’t get special treatment."²⁷
But the damage is done. Hunter Biden walks free, still believing he’s the real victim — just like the families of 20 murdered first-graders and six educators.
The comparison reveals the rot at the heart of the Biden family operation. They’ve spent decades monetizing Joe’s political positions, exploiting tragedies for profit and political gain, and playing the victim when caught.
And thanks to Joe Biden’s pardon, Hunter will never face justice for any of it.
