Hakeem Jeffries got caught in one ridiculous lie that will leave you speechless

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries thought he could rewrite history.

He figured Americans wouldn’t notice his brazen attempt to downplay chaos.

But Hakeem Jeffries got caught in one ridiculous lie that will leave you speechless.

Top Democrat tries to gaslight America about LA destruction

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) walked up to reporters on Monday with a straight face and tried to convince them that the violent chaos in Los Angeles wasn’t actually riots.

According to Jeffries, the days of anti-ICE protesters clashing with law enforcement, throwing Molotov cocktails at police officers, and looting storefronts across America’s second-largest city was just "unrest."

The Daily Caller News Foundation asked Jeffries how he planned to vote on a GOP-backed resolution condemning the Los Angeles riots.

His response was as predictable as it was dishonest.

"Obviously I disagree with the classification of the notion that there were riots in Los Angeles, certainly there was unrest," Jeffries told reporters.

Americans watching the footage of commercial-grade fireworks exploding near police officers and federal agents getting assaulted might have a different definition of "unrest."

But Jeffries wasn’t done making excuses for violent criminals.

"We will not be lectured by extreme MAGA Republicans about questions of law and order. Are you kidding me?" he continued.

The House Democrat leader then tried to change the subject by attacking President Donald Trump for pardoning January 6 defendants.

"Republicans aren’t the party of law and order, they’re the party of lawlessness and disorder," Jeffries argued. "They’re phonies — get lost."

This is the same Hakeem Jeffries who spent years calling the January 6th Capitol incident an "insurrection" but can’t bring himself to call violent riots in Los Angeles what they actually are.

The numbers don’t lie even when Democrats do

While Jeffries plays word games with reporters, the people of Los Angeles are dealing with the real-world consequences of the violence he won’t acknowledge.

The riots are projected to cost Los Angeles taxpayers more than $32 million in damages.

That’s $32 million that could have gone to schools, infrastructure, or public safety instead of cleaning up after violent protesters who decided to assault police officers and destroy property.

California Republican Representative Young Kim sponsored a resolution to condemn the Los Angeles riots along with other California House Republicans.

The three-page document refers to "riots" or "rioters" five times because that’s exactly what happened in Los Angeles.

"[T]hese protests quickly escalated into violent riots across Los Angeles … rioters have shot commercial grade fireworks and thrown Molotov cocktails at Los Angeles Police Department officers and assaulted Federal agents," the resolution states.

House Majority Leader Steve Scalise putt pressure on Democrats to back Kim’s resolution.

"Will Democrats stand with us against these violent riots, or continue to condone this destructive behavior because it aligns with their agenda?" Scalise wrote in his floor lookout for the upcoming week.

When asked how he planned to vote on the resolution, Jeffries claimed he hadn’t seen it yet.

That’s convenient considering the resolution has been making headlines and his office surely has access to the document.

Democrats can’t escape their pro-crime record

Jeffries’ refusal to call riots "riots" shows exactly why Democrats got shellacked in the 2024 elections.

Americans are tired of politicians who gaslight them about what they can see with their own eyes.

The resolution also criticizes Democrat California Governor Gavin Newsom and Democrat Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass for their failures to "contain the rapidly escalating disorder" and for "failing to support overwhelmed law enforcement personnel."

This is the Democrat playbook in action.

First, they defund police and tie their hands with soft-on-crime policies.

Then when violence breaks out, they refuse to call it what it is and blame Republicans for pointing out the obvious.

Representative Kim told the Daily Caller News Foundation she expected House Democrats to back the resolution because "denouncing riots and defending public safety should not be a partisan issue."

But Jeffries and his fellow Democrats have made public safety a partisan issue by consistently siding with criminals over law-abiding citizens.

Americans will be watching to see which Democrats join Jeffries in pretending that Molotov cocktails and assaulting federal agents constitute mere "unrest."

Jeffries did say that any demonstrators who committed crimes should be held accountable for their actions.

But his refusal to acknowledge that what happened in Los Angeles were riots shows he’s not serious about accountability.

How can you hold rioters accountable when you won’t even admit they’re rioters?

This is why Americans don’t trust Democrats on crime and public safety.

They can’t even call a riot a riot.
