Greg Gutfeld Skewered Alex Padilla With This Brutally Honest Take After His Arrest

Jun 16, 2025

The left can’t handle the truth when it comes to their own behavior.

They scream about "democracy" while acting like entitled children who don’t follow the rules.

And Greg Gutfeld skewered Alex Padilla with this brutally honest take after his arrest that left Democrats fuming.

Padilla’s Stunt Backfires Spectacularly

California Senator Alex Padilla thought he could crash a DHS press conference and make a scene without consequences.

He was dead wrong.

On Thursday, June 12, Padilla barged into Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem’s press conference in Los Angeles and was forcibly removed by federal agents after he interrupted her remarks.

Video shows Padilla shouting "I am Sen. Alex Padilla. I have questions for the secretary" as multiple plainclothes officers grabbed him and pushed him out of the room.

Once in the hallway, federal agents forced Padilla to the ground, ordered him to put his hands behind his back, and handcuffed him.

The whole incident was caught on video and went viral across social media.

But Padilla wasn’t done with his theatrics.

Later speaking to reporters, Padilla claimed he was "there peacefully" and was "almost immediately forcibly removed from the room" after asking a question.

Democrats across the country rushed to his defense, with California Governor Gavin Newsom calling the incident "outrageous, dictatorial, and shameful."

Former Vice President Kamala Harris called it "a shameful and stunning abuse of power."

But conservatives saw right through Padilla’s stunt for what it really was.

Gutfeld Delivers the Truth About Padilla’s Behavior

Fox News host Greg Gutfeld didn’t hold back when discussing Padilla’s embarrassing performance.

On "The Five," Gutfeld called Padilla a "douche" and said he was "lucky he wasn’t flattened" by DHS security.

"Do we have to keep reminding Democrats that Trump was nearly killed 11 months ago? It was a fraction of an inch away from death. They still don’t take that seriously," Gutfeld said.

"So this douche thinks he can plow in after his party spent, I don’t know, how many years demonizing Trump and, by extension, supporters and his cabinet. You don’t know what security is gonna do. He was lucky he wasn’t flattened," Gutfeld added.

Gutfeld hit the nail on the head.

After years of Democrats calling Trump "Hitler" and claiming he was a threat to democracy, they’re shocked when security takes threats seriously?

Gutfeld also pointed out that Padilla isn’t well-known enough to have been immediately recognized by security: "I don’t know who that guy is. Maybe they didn’t know who that guy was."

The Fox News comedian has been a fierce critic of the media’s coverage of violent protests, particularly their tendency to describe destructive riots as "mostly peaceful protests" – the same phrase outlets like CNN and MSNBC have used repeatedly to describe the Los Angeles anti-ICE riots.

A Media Research Center study found 211 examples of CNN and MSNBC personalities insisting anti-ICE demonstrations have been "mostly peaceful" despite widespread violence and destruction.

The Real Story Behind Padilla’s Tantrum

Secretary Noem was in Los Angeles to address the ongoing protests against President Trump’s immigration enforcement operations when Padilla decided to make his scene.

According to DHS, Padilla "did not initially identify himself as a senator, and was not wearing his Senate security pin."

Noem described Padilla as having "burst into the room" and "lunging toward the podium" while "elevating his voice" and "shouting questions."

DHS defended the officers’ actions and accused Padilla of engaging in "disrespectful political theatre."

"Senator Padilla chose disrespectful political theatre and interrupted a live press conference without identifying himself or having his Senate security pin on as he lunged toward Secretary Noem," the department said in a statement.

The truth is simple: Padilla wanted to create a viral moment for himself and his party.

Republicans saw right through his act, with White House spokesperson Abigail Jackson saying, "Padilla didn’t want answers; he wanted attention. Padilla embarrassed himself and his constituents with this immature, theater-kid stunt."

Even some Republicans who aren’t always supportive of Trump found the incident concerning.

Senator Susan Collins of Maine called the video "very disturbing."

But that doesn’t change the fact that security did exactly what they were supposed to do.

Democrats’ Double Standard Exposed

The real scandal isn’t how Padilla was treated – it’s how Democrats think they should be above the law.

Padilla was in the federal building for a separate briefing with General Gregory Guillot when he learned about Noem’s press conference and decided to crash it.

He had no invitation, no credentials for the event, and no business being there.

But Democrats think their party membership gives them special privileges.

House Speaker Mike Johnson called Padilla’s behavior "wildly inappropriate," adding, "You don’t charge a sitting Cabinet secretary."

The incident perfectly captures the entitled mentality of today’s Democrat Party.

They spent years calling Trump a fascist and comparing him to Hitler, then act shocked when security takes potential threats seriously.

They describe violent riots as "mostly peaceful" while screaming about "democracy" being under attack when one of their own faces consequences for his actions.

After the incident, Padilla urged protesters to remain peaceful, saying "I encourage everybody to please peacefully protest – just like I was calmly and peacefully listening in that press conference."

But there was nothing calm or peaceful about barging into a federal press conference without permission.

Greg Gutfeld called it exactly like it was – a pathetic stunt by a politician who wanted attention.

And now Padilla has all the attention he wanted, just not the kind he was hoping for.
