The Left’s resistance to President Trump is taking form.
But there is one fatal mistake being made.
And Greg Gutfeld exposed this sick fact about the anti-Trump protests.
Democrats are trying to generate their version of the Tea Party by deploying their foot soldiers in cities across America to protest President Trump and Elon Musk with a bizarre message of “Hands Off.”
When the Tea Party protests sprang up, Americans understood the movement rose in opposition to the trillions in spending on the bank bailout, the so-called “stimulus” bill, and Obamacare.
No one could quite figure out what the “hands off” movement was all about.
Greg Gutfeld thinks he understands why.
Gutfeld told his fellow The Five co-hosts that the only thing motivating Leftists to take to the streets was that they were angry, lonely people.
“I loved it. In fact, I do. I refuse to bash these people. I want to help them. I just want to know why it is so easy to find people to participate in this stuff? There are three things. There’s free time, there’s loneliness and meaninglessness in your disposable society,” Gutfeld began.
Politics replaced religion for many on the Left and it’s what an increasing number of Democrats obsess over.
And when politics doesn’t go their way – like it didn’t in the 2024 election – Democrats lose their minds.
Gutfeld said the only way Democrats can feed this beast is with a constant shifting of outrage, which is why in Trump’s first term, the women’s march gave way to the Russia Collusion hoax, which turned into the Ukraine impeachment hoax, which turned into COVID, which turned into Black Lives Matter, which turned into January 6.
“But the grievance gets you to these places, to the protest, but it doesn’t solve how you feel, so you’re ready to be exploited again. That’s why you have a new cause every month, it’s like, well, I did this. It didn’t do any good. I still feel miserable. My family hates me. I don’t really work for a living. I have too much free time. Let’s go do the climate change thing, and then they did, but they still feel empty. They still feel empty inside,” Gutfeld added.
Gutfeld said the only thing the Left is selling right now is hating Donald Trump, which isn’t a message that will grow their coalition.
“Like if, let’s say, you want to show up to this and you go, am I — is this wide-eyed, tormented person shouting slogans? Is that what I will become? This is probably every bit as alienating to many people as it might attract,” Gutfeld stated.
Gutfeld warned that Americans would walk away from the “hands off” movement just as disillusioned as they did from Black Lives Matter when they found out the movement was built on a lie and operated as a financial grift for the organizers to enrich themselves.
“You know, a lot of people came to BLM over-idealized assumptions, and they walked away disillusioned. They found that they were scammed. You know, the same thing with trans activism. All of a sudden, you found out that once you gave it oxygen, their tantrums turned crusty and gross,” Gutfeld concluded.
